Mum forgot to pull the water inlet lever of the overhead tank and switched on our Kent grand unit. I checked after one hour, the diaphragm was basically pulling air as there was no water in line. Now the diaphragm isn’t working, making a faint sound instead of it’s standard strong sound. Could this be repaired, or should I just get a a new one?
The one we were using is this:
That has been the problem with Kent technicians from day 1. All units come with a low pressure sensor at inlet to cater to this exact scenario, to safe guard pump in case of no supply at inlet.
They bypass the LPS during installation citing the inlet pressure at home is not high enough to override the LPS. They don’t even test the inlet pressure before bypassing, as it would enable them to loot customers with part replacements in future.
Most likely the pump is gone, best to replace it with new one.
Even if you manage to get the pump repaired, the seals might have already been damaged due to the dry run, so it would eventually fail again at some point.
Might as well replace it as preventive maintenance and please attach the LPS wire at inlet to avoid such issues in future.
Thank you. I really don’t know all these technicals so they take advantage of us. Anyway, now I’ll tell them about the LPS at inlet thing, but I’m sure they will misinform me and not do it.
Which pump should I get? I knew Pokar to be a good company, but I’m not sure about their present status. A link to the product would be really helpful.
Ah, we replaced Kent and moved to LG almost 8 yrs ago.
There used to be a brand/seller by the name of PSI, who used to sell good quality generic RO spares. Amazon is filled with several clones now.
I’d go with the cheapest one from a reliable seller.
Pureit by HUL Advanced Max 6 L Mineral RO + UV + MF + MP Water Purifier with Mineral Cartridge
The above purifiers GKK filter has been changed by the technician day before yesterday.
He changed everything in the purifier and I don’t know what they are. He also changed sediment filter as well. Everything cost me 2.9k plus .35k plus .2k total 3.45k it took for me.
for that much replace/repair price, by adding up to Rs.1000/- more you might be able to buy NEW Generic Water Filter. Brand service/replacement charges are like Bomb.
Usually the pre-filter is kept outside the RO unit. Hope it is the same for your unit also. If the pre-filter is bundled inside the RO unit then you need to remove the unit to check. As for the Amazon link you provided, I’ve been using those pre-filter and it is of very good quality. The pre-filter for my RO is outside the unit.
Is there any general consensus on which unit to buy? I have seen kent, eureka forbes(in other places on the forum) and a few other brands recommended.. I still can’t figure out which one to buy..
None of these guys manufacture their own stuff and make money by selling consumables. Newer models use chips extensively to prevent users from buying their own cartridges or doing service.
If you want the company to take care of the filter replacements for you, then buy the latest model from Eureka Forbes. Their steel tank model looks quite good. Or buy the one which have a telephone LED on the front.
If you like to do stuff on your own then buy some older model, after checking the filters availability online. It’s getting harder to buy something without a chip from renowned brands. But some third-party sellers have come up with filter kits for chip-based popular models.
under 5k, gets the job done. can be maintained by yourself. what is your use case for steel tank? alkaline water is gimmick 99% of the cases. only valid use is in case of hyper acidity that alkaline water would help.
@@Emperor as a allopathic doctor I dont believe in any of these Ayurvedic bs.
But removing the Cu Candle is a nice suggestion and will follow this thankyou.
@@dexterz I wanna keep things simple wont be able to DIY in the generic ones you suggested I prefer to call the technician everytime and alkaline water is 100% gimmick.
as far as ss tank is concerned I hate the plastic tank of my kent currently it just doesn’t look hygienic to me anymore thats why inclined towards ss tanks.
also from the last 3 years we have stopped using plastic bottles in our fridge steel and glass are the way to go
than you should not remove Copper/Mineral Candles and should use as it is, as it’s certified/backed by some scientific base study and so all Top Branded Water Purifier company too start using/promoting.
