Unlocking Airtel Xstream Fiber (Dasan H660GM-A) to use as an Extender/AP

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to repurpose my old Airtel Xstream Fiber router (Dasan H660GM-A) as a Wi-Fi extender/Access Point for my home network. My main router is on the 192.168.0.x subnet, but this Airtel unit is locked to 192.168.1.1.

I’ve run into the classic ISP “lockdown” issues and could use some help from anyone who has successfully rooted or unlocked these specific models. Here is what I’ve tried so far:

  • The Problem: The “LAN Settings” and “DHCP Server” options are either completely hidden or greyed out in the standard admin dashboard.

  • The “Site Can’t Be Reached” Error: Even after a hard reset, I frequently get ERR_ADDRESS_UNREACHABLE when trying to hit the gateway.

  • Hidden URLs: I found some info suggesting you can bypass the menu by manually typing paths like https://192.168.1.1/web_whw/#/advanced-setup/lan.

  • Hard Reset: I’ve done the 30-second reset with the fiber cable unplugged to try and stop the TR-069 auto-lock, but it still seems restricted.

What I’m looking for:

  1. Does anyone have a working Super Admin password for this model? I’ve tried admin/vertex25 and the sticker password without luck for full permissions.

  2. Is there a way to permanently disable the ISP management (TR-069) so it doesn’t revert my settings?

  3. Are there any “Inspect Element” tricks or Telnet commands that actually work to unlock the greyed-out IP address fields?

I really want to avoid e-waste and get this thing working. Any help would be appreciated!

@sarth might know something about this though chances are low for what you are trying to achieve.

Some members have reported that contacting support will help with this. They can change it on their end and it’ll update on your device.

im thinking of using a usb to uart adapter and capture bootloader and disable tr069

I am not experienced with this but how will you do anything with a locked bootloader.

bootloader will be locked??? how to unlock it

If that was known I think there will be many youtube videos by now with heading like “turn your airtel/jio router into free AP” etc. Wait for other members comments here but it is almost certain that bootloader is locked & can’t be unlocked.

Unfortunately I don’t know anything about this specific router, the UART method might work but it’s a big hassle

The router i have Is luckily somewhat “unrestricted” but I still haven’t managed to disable tr069 yet,but I haven’t tried everything yet so I will try checking if it’s even possible to disable that from our side while still having the airtel’s software version

My router is nokia 2425g-a for reference

What specific elements have you tried disabling and changing so far, in almost all of the routers I have tried so far ,the inspect elements works but but not for every setting

If you can afford a new router rn,a relatively hassle free option would be to

Get a D-Link m30 and flash OpenWRT it it, I find it is the cheapest openwrt supported router

There are lot of guides to unlock the specific router u mentioned but are old, u mentioned the vertex25 didn’t work so u probably have the updated version, in which case it’s just an e-waste

Check if it has the same software version as the one mentioned in these guides?does it have any option to update software via webui? if it’s even possible

Edit - it’s not possible

There was another YT video about unlocking this router who mentioned you have to downgrade version to 40 using olt? And one GitHub repo for unlocking a similar h680 router
