E6400 @ 3Ghz
Asus P5WDH Deluxe
Corsair 2x1 GB PC-6400
ATI Radeon 1900XT -256mb
I wanna updgrade, Initially my thots were to get the Q6700 and use it with my current mobo, and also placed the order with Amarbir week ago, looks like its outa stock, and I am getting impatient!
The upgrade totally wen the Nehalem comes out.
Now do u guys suggest:
I stick with my current decision and wait for the Q6700?
Go for the Q9300, tho my mobo natively supports 1066Mhz, the latest BIOS has support for the 45nm proccyâs, I know this option I am afraid mite hamper the OCing headroom⌠dunno how much tho!
Go for a new mobo 750i + E8400 or Q9300, would spending 11k for a new mobo be worth the performance?!
Money not too much of an issue..but I dont want to waste money.
All ur suggestions/thots welcomed.
PS-put my GPU shopping on hold, waiting for the launch of the RV770 launch!
It aint worthy buddy, save more and more and get monster GPU in summers, Core 2 Duo @ 3GHz will not bottleneck. Other thought - Upgrade SMPS to Corsair TX750 or Tagan 700 + model to be ready when U upgrade GPU. If U still cant control URself then get E7200 @ 5.7k, Its OCable to 4GHz 24/7, will be good jump and not huge money invested. or Trade UR E6400 with ma E6850.
Hold on to ur present rig and wait since the E6400 is more than sufficient; I wouldnât even suggest a Q6700 for that matter unless uâre planning to run some number crunching applications like Maya, Pro-E n so on or if uâre going to put the processor under some extreme chilling for benching.
Donât waste money cos ultimately uâre going to shell out a lot, when nehalemâs ultimately out. At least 80g considering, building the rig from scratch.
At the max, go for a E8200; Should be more than decent, to run any game @ good resolutions when uâre intending to couple it with th RV770 when its going to be out.
Why would u wanna trade with my E6400?? and go lower? Again ur E6850 would be 1333 FSB na..if thats the case i can go for the 8400/Q9300, and wats this new 7200âŚarent they lappy proccyâs ? yea I was plannin to get a new PSU prolly the 620HX is the TX750 better and is it modular?.
Shouldnt the newer GPUâs consume lesser power?!!
Pardon my ignoranceâŚjus cheked our the 7XXX series on neweggâŚinteresting looks like replacement for the current 6XXX series!!
Your prolly rite gannuâŚbut I am jus bored, and want a faster processor, and with the 10x multiplyerâŚI think the q6700 would be a good choiceâŚna I dont run any crunching applicationsâŚjus the games which id like to enjoy at 1680 x 1050, watever little time i get on weekends.
I just wanna see faster load times and stuff u know! would like to see wat the quad buzz is all about?!!..how much better they really are?!
The E8400 will be better suited for u then; performs a lot better on games than the Q6700; The Q6700 has a lead only in UT3 AFAIK wherein it utilizes all the 4 cores to the max.
For the rest, the 2 coresâre just a waste.
And the 10x multiplier onboard the Q6700 will pity itself until uâre going to torture the thing using some HC benching and extreme cooling.
And for that, Uâll just need more, faster and better RAM + a good HDD.
Well, then ill change my order from Q6700 to E8400? only thing i am not sure if my mobo will boot with it!(e8400) I do have the latest bios that supporst the 45nm proccy;sâŚanyone in here using the 975x with 45nm proccys?
Yea Gannu have bot 150GB raptor from KaranâŚI should be getting it next week..as for the Ram plan to buy another 2 gb kit from pheonixâŚbut then I had have to migrate 64 bit OSâŚtahts would be a pain! too lazy..but will surely buy Ram too..
Currently only Unreal 3 engine or Supreme Commander utilize 4 cores. If U r thinking abt long term, Quad is way, Q6600 is still best bang for buck, 3-4-3.6 GHz 24/7 is possible. Q6700 just has high Multi which will come handy if U have crappy RAM or moboâs inability to reach high FSB with Quads.
Buy new CPU only after buying new GPU, play games with E6400 if not satisfied upgrade ASAP. Currently its UR X1900 which is lowest performing component in UR PC.
Hi gcbeldarâŚthanks for being so honest manâŚi was planning to sell my E 6400 to uâŚwell I still mite..coz I have already ordered my Q6700, but its out of stock, and i am still waitingâŚbut dont think it will make it before the 15th!
so let me get this straight u have the exact same mobo as me?..and ur not system is not stable with the e6550???..thats surprising..coz wen i OC this to 3ghz it is running effectively at 1500FSBâŚand there is no problem!!
Boss, It works with yours is 1066, my cousions also 1066, but mine is 1333.
It works fine, but not stable for 24x7, many times it resets when i switchon, again i have to setup my saved profile. But Asus P5W DH Delux is Just Excellent Motherboard for 800 and 1066 FSB processor.
I have tried E6550 with G33 Chipset mb, it excellent support.
I dont want to change Asus P5W DH Deluxe [975] atleast for a year.
It does bro with the latest BIOS..which I have the 2602, so u dont want my e6400 anymore?
Yea agreed its a fantastic moboâŚmine is perfectly stable having OCed the 6400 to 3 GHZ, I did this OCing only 1 month backâŚand its rock stable 24/7 running at 1500FSB dunno why ur haing issues.
What else u want Boss, Only if you r using Processor intensive games like crysis, multitasking etc. then go for 4 mb cache processor else u wont get feel any great difference between 1066 and 1333.
I was just forced to upgrade from a 6400 @ 3.2GHz to a 8400 @ 3GHz as of now⌠I think i ended up spending 3.5K for it and i surely think its worth itâŚ
I was reading the review of E4600 in legion hardwares. There the guys had written that the current C2Dâs have to be underclocked to 1.8 GHz before they are a bottleneck. Believe me man, a bigger graphic card will serve you much better.
