Upgrading CFW on PSP 2000

Hi,

I have CFW 3.71-m33 on my PSP and I wanted to upgrade to the latest CFW, since most of the games require the new firmware. I read through this post:

but the link to the CFW seems to be dead.

Can someone please let me know how to go about the upgrade? Do I need to first upgrade to an interim version like 4.xx before going to 5.xx?

3.71 is old.

I am currently on 5.00m33-6 and can play all the latest games.

To be on the safe side upgrade to 4.xx(CFW) and then to 5.00m33-6.

All you need is the CFW from PSP Downloads - Custom Firmwares and the OFW for the upgrade process.

  1. Download CFW 4.01m33-2 and 5.00m33-6

  2. Download OFW 4.01 and 5.00 [Redirecting...]/[Redirecting...]

  3. Place the CFW in PSP/UPDATE folder along with the respective OFW.

  4. Have sufficient battery charge [80% +] before starting the process.

  5. Run the update from the PSP game menu. It should be done under 2-3 mins.

  6. Repeat for 5.00

  7. Enjoy!

Thanks! Is there a need to upgrade to 4.01m33 before moving to 4.01m33-2? Sorry for being such a n00b, I am just scared of bricking my psp.

upgrade directly to 5.50… its quite stable too
