The clip captures the chaotic moments during the mass shooting at Bondi Beach, with the man confronting the gunman and disarming him as others flee the scene.
A dramatic video from Australia’s Bondi Beach shows a bystander bravely overpowering one of the gunmen during a mass shooting, an act that may have prevented further bloodshed. In the clip, the man is seen tackling the attacker, wresting a rifle from his hands and attempting to turn the weapon on him as chaos unfolds around them.
The footage captures the moment amid the panic of gunshots and fleeing crowds. Another clip from the scene shows a second shooter positioned on an elevated suspended walkway, apparently firing at people below, while beachgoers scatter in fear.
The gunmen opened fire during a Hannukah party at Bondi Beach, with gunshots ringing out across the beachfront on Sunday evening, triggering panic as people ran for cover. Large crowds had gathered at Bondi Beach on Sunday night for a festival celebrating the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. The event, called Chanukah by the Sea, had been advertised as a night of family fun before the violence erupted.
Witnesses told the Daily Mail that two men stepped out of a vehicle on Campbell Parade near the Bondi Pavilion and began firing at around 6.40 pm. Footage from the scene showed two people, dressed in black, firing near the beach.
New South Wales Police said that nearly 40 people were injured in the attack, with two police officers also shot and wounded during the operation, as per The Sun report.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called the mass shooting “shocking and distressing” and said the police and emergency responders are on the ground working to save lives.
If you see the full video you see that the shooter he took the gun from (the dad it seems) goes back on the bridge and rejoins the other guy, who had another gun for him, and he continues shooting. So might not have made much of a difference, unfortunately.
And we also see in the video that the guy who snatched the gun later takes cover behind that tree along with another old guy who came over to help this guy. They both then get shot and the old guy might even have died. So at least two extra people got shot we know that for sure.
Wonder why he didn’t shoot him once he had the gun, maybe he didn’t know how to use it.
You are right about the video
but he took that Assault machine gun( i believe ) and ended up with pistol then it also forced the father go to the expose point where police could easily taken down both of them.
Made the work for police much easier.
Otherwise I think still the damage would have been much more had the father roamed around like lone wolf with assault automatic gun.
however, that white tshirt gun should have just shot him. The gun was already loaded . he just had to press the trigger.
Looked like a shotgun in the video, but not sure. There are no automatic weapons in Australia only hunting rifles are allowed. That’s probably why the guy was not able to shoot him because he didn’t know how to reload.
