Want to buy a 32 inch monitor for work

Hi, I’m looking to upgrade from a 29 inch ultrawide 1080p to 32 inch, because the vertical space is not enough (it’s same as a 24 inch 1080p monitor vertically).

I’ve been eyeing 32 inch OLED 4k monitors like the Alienware but it seems these are not ready for heavy productivity use yet and have burn-in issues (saw it on hardware unboxed).

Usage breakdown: 80% work (mostly coding and office stuff), 10% youtube, 10% gaming

I was willing to compromise on text rendering of OLEDs, but burn-in is a deal breaker, I guess I’ll buy a OLED TV and stick to IPS for monitors.

VA panels seem to be out of contention as I’ve heard bad thing about the ghosting when using text heavy stuff.

So IPS seems to be the only option. Anyone here knows some decent models?

Nice to haves -

  1. higher refresh rate than 60hz
  2. mini LED with high number of zones

Budget - 50k (fine going over a bit)

Check recently video on monitors unbox for latest 27 inch mini led 1152 zones models… the msi one might show up in India soon and within your 50k budget. Should be good for dark mode ui and sharp text clarity too with little or no burnin worry.

I have 2 oleds right now both 32 inch 4k, one msi other samsung and also mostly so called productivity usage pattern, browsing and coding, will see how burnin happens if at all.

Oled is not meant for work

I’d suggest the same, wait for the MSI miniLED (MSI 274URDFW E16M). It’s basically the same as Acer XV275K P5 which goes for 42k right now, but seemingly better build quality and motion handling performance

I bet it’s not going to launch here and we’ll keep waiting. Let’s see.

Problem is the models are almost never available in India. That’s why I asked here to people who keep tabs on the market.

At a casual search:

ASUS ROG Strix OLED XG32UCWMG still isn’t available in India yeah.

ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM is available bc I recently got one.

LG 32GR93U-B is not available.

Dell Alienware is also not available.

(You can also search for other 32 inch monitors by other reputed reviewers. Like I heard this monitor is also good - https://www.amazon.in/Samsung-TrueBlack-Height-Tilt-Pivot-Adjustable-LS32FG810SWXXL/dp/B0F38KDSKZ)

But this is available -

Monitor: Dell U2725QE

First one on the best work monitor list

https://nationalpc.in/monitors/dell-ultrasharp-u2725qe-27-inch-uhd-4k-thunderbolt-hub-monitor

My methodology is basically, to form a baseline with these “best” reviewed models. Then search “monitor name India” to check if it’s available and for how much. I also check the manufacturers website directly for “where to buy” to check shops that might have any inventory. As a last resort if you really want a specific product then importing it or getting someone to order it in for you would work too. Just growing pains and how much you want to chase it down. It’s not impossible just a pain in the butt.

Someone mentioned MSI 27” 4k monitor above. My suggestion is to not buy 27” with 4k resolution. Given the resolution, 27” is very limiting. I hope you went for 32”. What’s the experience?

PS: I’m using this one https://techenclave.com/t/viewsonic-va2708-4k-mhd-27-4k-monitor-an-overlooked-gem-or-a-cheap-trap/.

I’m still on my old 29 inch monitor, will buy a 32 4k as soon as something decent is one the market around 50k. Thanks for sharing your experience with the 27” 4k. I was sort of tempted by 27 inch monitors recently as the Samsung 27“ 1440p OLED is now going for 45k.

I’m also using a BenQ 27” 1440p display for 4 years. In my opinion, if you’re already using a 29” monitor, then “Samsung 27“ 1440p OLED” may feel like a marginal upgrade, which IMO gets nullified if one has to spend 45k for it!

Yes, do go for 32” screen when it comes to 4k resolution. The only reason I’m not regretting a 27” screen for 4k is, because I got it for just 18k. (Build quality isnt’ that good but this is my temporary monitor.)

The only disadvantage of this config is that I can’t use 4k resolution. On 27” size, everything looks tiny at 4k. I’ve to scale to 150% or at least 125% in display settings to be able to see ‘things’ clearly. (Things = 2 size-by-size windows at 100% - 120% zoom.)

PS: Disadvantage of Viewsonic’s monitor is poor build quality as well but that’s different. I’m just focusing on 29” size and 4k resolution combo here.

Not sure I understand your post correctly, but you can use multiple monitors.

What exactly will it be used for? If not gaming then VA is largely fine.
