3) no access to admin files

I tired to create a Limited a/c using Windows…points 1 n 3 work but point 2 doesnt work.

Well I take your problem is that you are unable to setup any apps in the guest mode.

When you are in the guest account and want to run as admin to install an app, simply right click on the installer, and select run as. Choose a superuser and enter the password. Voila, all problems solved.

But i want to create a limited access account which according to win xp is diff from the guest account…

But i’ll try the guest account thing!! thanks a lot man!

not just guest account you can do this from any limited account too

I only suggested guest because you seem to want to allow net access and nothing else. But “Run as” is a generic feature. Hell, you can be admin, and run as still shows up.

I want to allow net access and a couple of apps…that it…nothing else shld be installed..

So do i create a guest or a limited account? and how do i go abt doin it

@wraith : for more options try looking in local security policy.
( LSP is available in administrator tools…)

@Saiyan : checked the LSP…but it didnt help

Make a guest account, that’s the best way to go. Then you can finetune the account’s settings by using the Group Policy Editor. To access it, go to start>run and type gpedit.msc. Then in the GP Editor, navigate to Computer Configuration>Windows Settings>Local Policies and see the options available. Quite powerful, I must say.
