We're Looking for Moderators - Join the TechEnclave Team!

Hey folks,

Time flies when you’re having fun (or arguing about world affairs :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:). Many of our veteran moderators have moved on to new adventures - jobs, families, and other commitments that come with adulting. We need some fresh blood to help keep this ship sailing smoothly.

What does moderating TechEnclave involve?

Let’s be honest - this is mostly a thankless job. You won’t get paid, you won’t get famous, and you’ll occasionally deal with people who think their keyboard warrior skills make them invincible.

But here’s what you will get:

  • A chance to give back to a community that’s been helping tech enthusiasts for over two decades
  • The satisfaction of keeping discussions civil and constructive
  • Occasional moments where you feel like a digital superhero (mostly when stopping spam bots)
  • A group of fellow mods who get what you’re dealing with

The workload isn’t massive - it’s not a full-time commitment. The goal is to distribute responsibilities so no one person gets burnt out. Think of it as checking in regularly, handling reports when they come up, and keeping an eye on your assigned sections.

What we’re looking for:

  • Active members who’ve been around long enough to understand the community culture
  • Level-headed folks who can stay calm when discussions get heated
  • Fair-minded people who can enforce rules consistently without power-tripping
  • Team players willing to collaborate with other mods
  • Someone with enough time to check in regularly (even if it’s just 15-30 minutes daily)

Interested?

If you think you’d be a good fit, start a support topic or send me a PM with:

  1. Why you want to moderate TechEnclave
  2. Which sections you’re most active in or interested in moderating
  3. Roughly how much time you can commit per week
  4. Any previous moderation experience (not mandatory, but helpful)

We’ll review applications over the next couple of weeks and reach out to shortlisted candidates.

Thanks for keeping TechEnclave awesome! :rocket:

Note: Being a moderator means upholding community guidelines fairly and consistently. If you’re applying just for the badge or title, this probably isn’t for you.

I nominate @ibose (specifically for Trading Post) and I proactively request to be excluded from consideration.

There is 50% reservation for women. That’s why we have so few moderators.

I would have loved to be a mod here since I spend hours here daily. But not sure If I’m the right fit.

Why do you feel you are not right fit?
As long as you can be fair and follow the guidelines. All is going to be well.

Plus the experienced mods can guide for short time. Till you get hang of it.

I can be fair, but as you know there are few members running around like chaotic child. And me with a stick won’t be good idea.

Otherwise I think I can take care of most stuff.

There will always be few people acting crazy everywhere in your life…dont bother much about them.

Just go ahead and do it … Rest is your call ofcourse.

Luckily my “Ignore it all” skills are working fine for now.

So I nominate myself.

Let’s see what the mods decide.

I dont think as Mod, you have that luxury to ignore people as you need to keep a check on all of the members.

( but let the Admins confirm this)

Anyways good to see you nominated yourself.

Man I spend so much time here but I lose composure very fast so this isn’t for me

Thank you for nominating but I fail one of the key requirements - I am not level headed at all. When push comes to shove, it usually ends with kicking and screaming. Besides with my OCD on how the things are in TE currently, I will be always at odds with the Admin.

Nonetheless I don’t need a badge/position to help others and will continue to help and support the TE community.

You don’t want to be a moderator and affect change ?
Then don’t complain.

Probably

Can I apply to be the Anti Moderator ?
Where I have Mod powers but don’t have to follow rules.

We kind of do need a heavy hand in Trading Post

Shoot first, ask questions later type of stuff.
