At this rate, AI bubble won’t be popping, but fucking exploding like tianjin or beirut explosions.
Maybe that’s the plan. A hard reset.
Rma from wd has become a PITA.
I am waiting for those sweet sweet RTX 6000 Pros when it does.
I am patient c:
There’s no AI bubble popping. Atleast not for next 2-3 years. If you’re in IT, you would know how much power these LLMs have.
While I agree there will be a slowdown in AI demand, especially when they will stop being free, by no means there will be complete AI shutdown.
If you need a PC, buy it right now. Things will only get worse with time. Things will normalise once there are more manufacturing units, but that will take slightly longer.
Haha. I am okay with waiting years. Prolly gon take a few years but I am patient c:
Agreed with AI bubble not popping any soon, since unlike Blockchain, LLMs have actual (live) usecase. And way too influencial folks are involved in funding to let this pop easily.
building a PC become a hassle.
That’s what companies want you to do - rent them. They own the hardware and rent it to ppl it’s already happening
agree, at least in the not in the near future, companies are paying heavily for AI, even my company gives us copilot business and chatgpt enterprise, thats like $1000 per user per year just out of the box for everyone. and above that we can request claude if we need it.
hopefully after a couple of years maybe 2030 we will see something consolidation and return to normalcy but not within this periot
dotcom bubble pop did not shutdown the internet, and similarly, AI bubble pop may not look like the end of AI.
- We only need companies like OpenAI (which compete with us for gpus/ssds) to go poof. Google is just too big to die anyway.
- If the chinese/local models catch up and become efficient, a lot of AI use-cases (like autocomplete) can just run locally, reducing enterprise demand/subscription model.
- AI can get specialized hardware that doesn’t compete with consumer hardware. Like those ASIC crypto miners that eventually made gpus worse for crypto. eg: google’s TPUs
Just my luck. I shipped a DOA 4TB WD Blue CMR to their Coimbatore location (Multiple Mobile Care) for RMA a few days ago. They received it and confirmed the same over a phone call.
It was delivered on 16th but status on the support portal still says “return pending”. What kind of timeline should I expect? It’s my first time RMAing a WD.
in USA it took 2 months. One of my drive is also in RMA with India center. no idea when it will be replaced. Mail said 7 days to 10 days
My drive has been shipped by WD
What’s the status of your drive @LordSyphr
The service centre received the package on Feb 17th and they confirmed the same over a call. But the online status changed to “Received/Processing” only on 20th. No new updates since then.
I did email them to ensure the replacement will be a CMR drive. They replied that I would most likely get the same model or an equivalent which uses the same recording technology as per their “like for like” policy but it will be subject to availability. Not very useful as they aren’t guaranteeing anything. Let’s see how it goes.
Got a call yesterday to confirm the replacement model as the exact one was not in stock. They offered another WD Blue CMR drive which I accepted. Today, the RMA status changed to completed. Replacement part no, serial etc got updated but the carrier and tracking number fields are still blank. Not bad. It’s exactly 10 days since they received the drive.
Update: Received the drive today (2nd March 2026). It was shipped via Bluedart from Bangalore.
