Western Digital warranty - 3 yrs or 5 yrs?

Guys,

Just a quick question. Do Western digital hard drives have 3 or 5 yr warranty ? I’m confused…coz here I see most people saying that WD has a 5 yr warranty in India, but on their website they are saying WD (green and blue) has 3 yr warranty only (black has 5 year) !! :huh:

yeah..I was asking abt the internal ones (3.5 inch).

Ebay listings for WD drives say 5 year warranty.

all external hdds have a 3 year onsite warranty
dont know about the internal ones though… should be 3 years only

ENTERPRISE, DESKTOP, AND NOTEBOOK DRIVES IN INDIA HAVE A 5YEAR WARRANTY,as per WD details on Feb 2010 .

i brought 2 x 1TB’s WD EADS 2 months back, got 5 years warranty on them

now there is only a 3 year warranty on 3.5 internal hdd (WD) , confirmed 4rom np :slight_smile:

This one is for the new stock , if u r lucky u can get an older one which has a 5 year warranty , ask for the older stock , best of luck :slight_smile:

why have they reduced the warranty… does it mean that their drives are not able to survive 5yrs… bad decision on WDs part…

Probably as a response to Seagate reducing warranty to 3 years :frowning:

currently all WD drives in India are having 5yr warranty excluding external & portables as stated.WD had reduced warranty on HDDs in few places but India is not in the list !This is details as per information from WD india rep.

^^ wheee.. I dunno how I missed that. I thought I searched for the text “india” in that page!! I have a sneaking suspicion that they included that last line recently, but most probably it would just be that lazy me missed it :slight_smile:
