What are some great non-English movies?

What are some non-English films you’d rate 8/10 or higher?

I’ve been searching to watch retro Hindi movies and came across suggestions like Guide and Mughal-e-Azam etc., yet to watch these.

I also remembered there are other great movies like Tumbbad, Pather panchali, Virumaandi, Sankarabharanam.
Outside of India, Parasite, Life Is Beautiful, Come and See, and Incendies are some of the great ones.

Would love to hear what stuck with you that you feel like a great or greatest movie.

Let’s consider only non-English movies here (there are many lists for English movies anyway).

Headhunters

Soul Kitchen

Amaran

Léon: The Professional (French version)
Seven Samurai

Brazilian Portuguese Language : Tropa De elite 1 and 2, City of God
Japanese : Seven Samurai, Grave of Fireflies, Your name, Audition (audition is pretty messed up)
Korean : I Saw the Devil, Oldboy, Sympathy for Mr Vengeance, Sympathy for Lady Vengeance (Oldboy and Sympathy movies are part of Vengeance trilogy), The Hand Maiden, Memoirs of Murder (Careful with this list as non of them are family friendly)
French : The Intouchables, Amelie, Irreversible (graphic content)
Indonesian (Bahasa): Raid 1 and 2, The act of killing (documentary)
Cantonese: Infernal Affairs 1 and part 3. Part 2 is not so good. Infernal affairs is the original on which Departed was made by Martin Scorsese.

Is this that movie? - Between Love and Hate (2006) - IMDb

Just confirming bcz it is rated 5/10.

Here is a list of my favorite Korean movies.

Pretty much Wong Kar Wai’s entire filmography is absolute cinema.

I’ve been planning to watch Salim Saddiq’s Joyland (2022) for the past week but haven’t had the time. It has been very strongly recommended by a friend and fellow cinephile.

Do you enjoy silence-based retro movies?

Nosferatu (1922) is an all-time great for me

Yes, ofcourse.

I still watch chaplins and buster keatons now and then. Will watch ur suggestion.

There was some tv channel on samsung tv app that used to come for free. It used to (or still doing?) telecast many silent and other rare retro movies.

So many Available on Mubi!

Watched trailer, seems interesting.

Mubi seems good enough, but 399/month price is little high for what it has, just my opinion. Is sharing slots possible with mubi?

If you get a Debrid subscription, you can basically watch anything on torrent, including 50-100 GB Blu-ray rips for about 3k a year.

Just keep adding movies to your Trakt watchlist or use someone else’s list and keep watching.

Two can easily share.

If it’s still costly, what one can do is Make a list of available titles, subscribe for a month or two, watch them. Rinse, Repeat.

recently watched ‘in the mood for love’ and id recommend everyone to watch that movie because its too good. so somber and tranquil that it’ll make you feel depths while watching it.

Maybe paying for RD instead of all OTTs is a sensible idea. :pirate_flag:

For some reason, quote is not working in this forum.

@sama So debrid is like zbigz or seedr right? Just dump the torrent and watch or something else? Stremio too seems good.

Also what is RD?

@Kevin_Lane any idea how many streams simultaneously can be watched? I can’t find this detail in their site.
