What paid android app(s)do you use and recommend?

I have a Google Play code for 1000 that I bought a while back. Planning to use it for purchasing any interesting or useful apps( even get additional gift cards if reqd).
I’m saying purchase because AFAIK, subscriptions are not allowed via gift cards.

What apps have you purchased or subscribed to recently and do you recommend those ?

I already have tasker pro and Nova launcher prime and am not interested in mobile games. So far my shortlist is too short :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

  1. NetGuard pro
  2. Nova launcher alternatives.
  3. Power Amp ? My current mobile has excellent DAC but is too old. So, may be this helps a little when I need to switch mobiles

If you’re in to mobile gaming then “Stardew Valley”.

As seen above I read a lot/listen to audiobooks for relaxation due to my stressful job. Most of my purchases veer toward apps in those categories.

The same play-store account is being used on 3 phones and 1 tablet.

Oh, I see that a major part of your purchases are at sale price. May be we need an android playstore sales thread if we don’t already have one. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I have used smart audiobook player and stellarium on mobile earlier. I think smart audio book player might be worth getting. Don’t have our celestron binoculars anymore, so not much use for stellarium these days.

Off topic, but where do you get your audiobooks? Purchased, librivox or high seas ?

The only paid app I’m currently using is Moon Reader Pro+, good for epub, pdf book reading.

Niagara Launcher

I use an android app which alerts me to paid apps for free or at a high discount (40% or 50% sometimes). If the app catches my fancy and is worth the money they ask, I make it a point to buy it via play-store to support the author. I am not getting any younger and finding cracked apps with every update is something I am loath to do on a regular basis.

Regarding audiobooks, it is the high seas and MaM (a site geared to e-books and audiobooks). MaM opens up their site twice a week. You have to join their IRC chat and take an interview in order to be eligible to download. This is of-course assuming you aren’t a member already!

My list of paid apps is short:

  • Tasker for automation

  • Lithium epub reader: best epub reader on android, even considering it has its own long unfixed bugs. I have tried Moon reader, Readera, Librera. Most of these can’t even display epubs properly.
I’ve posted a single example screenshot of what I’m saying:

  • OALD (Oxford Advanced Learner’s dictionary): I am using a cracked version but you might consider paying for it. A really good dictionary app.

I recommend Tasker, Solid Explorer, and Nova Launcher Prime for powerful automation, file management, and customization on Android.

eBoox
I’ve tried several and my favourite is eBoox. It’s free on ios and Android and it syncs your books and progress between all your devices.
I usually read on iPad and if I have to go to the toilet,I launch the app on my android and it continues on the same page. That’s a very handy feature for me.

Simple Gallery Pro
OG android users might remember Quickpic. It was the best gallery viewer that was very lightweight too, before phones needed more RAM than a PC. Simple gallery is the best replacement to it after quickpic went to $h!t.

I would like to recommend you a list of apps which I also use:

  1. Moon+ Reader Pro (a good book reading app)
  2. Apps from PashaPuma Design ( They cook some exceptionally good widgets and icons)
  3. SD Maid Pro
  4. NewThing Widgets Pro (a good chunk of nothing widgets)
  5. Google One
  6. Spotify Premium
  7. Youtube Premium
  8. Games like Stardew Valley, Monument Valley, Minecraft, Terraria and PPSSPP Gold.

edit : forgot to mention Purchasing Good VPNs, Cloudflare WARP and adguard.

how much does this whole cost you on a monthly basis?

Most are permanent purchases which i bought overtime, only a few like yt prem. Spotify prem. And Google One are monthly.
I don’t use vpn as of now.

Niagara Launcher, Poweramp, and Emby for Android TV.

Smart audiobook player is my fav purchase. I paid 250 Rs one time and tons of useful features for listening to audiobooks (such as notes/timestamps/sleep/etc). I listen to audiobooks everyday during commute (1 hour everyday) so it’s a must for me.

Anatomy 3D from Catfish Animation Studio

Helps one visualize human body to the finest.

Recently bought Arc Player Premium (300/- against the regular pricing of 1000/-). Allows me to play video files on android with subtitles etc. similar to MX Player Pro (not available on playstore for purchase after Amazon took over the company). I could get a modded app but decided to support the author.
