What XP requirements of HW?

Hello There,

One of my system have Intel 2.4 processor, Intel D845GBV mobo,256 RAM, DVD Writer is this configuration OK if I install XP Professioanl.

Thank You

Yes it will work fine,512mb ram will give u a butter smooth system

xp will run just about fine on that system. Pls do try to get either more RAM or just turn of all XP eyecandy for smoother performance.

On some other forums I read to TURN OFF Windows XP eyecandy as it use more resources?

I am confused please suggest more?
Thank You

Stick - Microsoft sets the basic memory requirement for Windows XP as 128MB. You ought to notch that 256 MB up to 512 MB but for really smooth operations think about upping it to 1GB.

This is not the first time Microsoft has hugely underestimated the overhead of their OS.

Well .. WinXP will run absolutely fine .. u should consider on the visual though .. disabling some services , visuals etc. will improve the performance a lot ..

U mean u want to know how to turn off all the eyecandy?
well, u can disable themes services and use the windows classic style from the display properties.

Selecting classic alone doesn’t help…

A simple way of handling this is right-click on My Computer > select Properties > Advanced tab > Settings button > select “Adjust for best performance” > click OK till you come out of those windows.

^^ yeah oops..i forgot to add that..u can deselect all eyecandy/performance options there too na.

256mb is the bare minimum for XP.. if you add another stick of 256mb you can use XP with all the eye candy

I’m a Win2k fan and for as long as I remember, XP has always run with all the eye candy turned off… whether I had 512mb or 2GB RAM - you don’t need it :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

with 512 MB RAM you can easily run Win XP on a 500MHz processor. I even ran it on a 400MHz P2 with 256 MB RAM. To get better performance you can go to the System Properties → Advanced → Performance settings and select the Adjust for best performance option.
