Where do you get your 99.9% pure IPA/Acetone/Solvent?

Where do you get your solvents (most importantly 99.9% IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) ?
Why tf is it so difficult to find this stuff?
the best deal and quality I got to was “Hoki” brand 500ml IPA for 109 INR on hnhcart.
I am not talking about medical grade IPA although easier to find, that is generally 70% concentrated only and not suitable for electronics among other purposes.
I am stocked up for now but asking for future.

I wish gadkari mixed IPA instead :cry: /s

Look for a chemical supplier in your area, the ones which supply chemicals to school labs, etc.

A couple of years ago, I bought IPA Iso-Propyl Alcohol 99.9% from:

https://www.amazon.in/dp/B07887GYYQ

Buy from akinfotools. They have 1L ipa (akt cleaning liquid) for 200. I have used this but not sure if its 99% as advertised.

You can get mechanic 1L pcb cleaner for 300. (Babatools akinfo)

local suppliers in area are best for such thing, try market where these things are commonly used, they also host shops for these guys

They are very fishy IMO.
I mean they might suffice the purpose of cleaning PCBs in general but I want to know what I am getting to make more informed decisions.
on babaocamachine and akinfotools they do sell some cleaners under different tags like “pcb cleaning water”, “IPA”, “Acetone”, “water” etc etc
Very contradictory labels, for example AKT states IPA and acetone on the same bottle but the liquid seems to be neither of them, doesn’t smell or behave like alcohol nor Acetone.

I got the AKT 250ML pack for testing and I am still not sure what it is composed of and its purity.
They don’t seem to even know what IPA, acetone are and just use them like marketing tags

Yeah i thought the same. Acetone one is cheap! It leaves salt like residue when looking up close.

1 have used the 1L that come in a jargin like container. I dries up pretty fast. But there is ipa and silicon printed in the package. I don’t know what silicon has to do with ipa.

Ignore my above suggestions!

Last one I bought was from here. Seems okay.

Micron PCB Cleaning Solution IPA Solution 99% Isopropyl Alcohol -1000ml | Sharvielectronics: Best Online Electronic Products Bangalore

Datasheet says max 99.91%

Before that, I had the mechanic one, which I bought from Babatools. I got the 5 litre container, but when it arrived, the box was cracked and half the liquid had evaporated. From that day on, I learned to only buy a maximum of 1 litre capacity.

Yeah, logistics is a problem with these products unless you are buying in commercial quantities with proper packaging for transport.

I also got a 400-500 ml bottle from Amazon. It’s relatively costly but you get the quantity you pay for.

I bought this a while back and I use small bottles and those micro fibre cloths for cleaning. I have also used it when cleaning my thermal paste of processor etc. No issues so far.

Also I always wonder, is the alcohol supplied to hospitals better than this? coz I can get that stuff for cheap as my aunt runs a clinic

3 years ago a 750ml water bottle fully leaked inside my bag which had 2 laptops in it. Completely drenched them. Literally water flowing outside of them. Disassembled them completely, kept them for drying under a fan. Ordered this, it arrived the next day. I washed the pcbs thoroughly with this using toothbrush and still kept them under then fan for 5 days. And voila. Laptops were completely fine. Still working till today. Have used this on countless soldering projects since then. Iso 99% is not that hard to find and the one u got on hnhcart is just as good.

Bought many times for PCB cleaning agent.

ases - Iso Propyl Alcohol 99.5% (IPA) - Isopropanol - Isopropyl Alcohol Price – aseschem

Even rubbing alcohol before an injection is Isopropyl alcohol. I once got this in a small tube but it evaporated once it got exposed.

I now clean the TIM using Hand Sanitizer.

Isopropyl alcohol - IPA - bizpressions.in
This could be useful for you. It has 99.9% purity, but it is cosmetic/industrial grade.

I have been using this for years. Worked out well so far.

As I mentioned in my post medical grade is only about 70% concentrated and has water in it.
Sufficient for medical use case but not other use cases like electronics.

Again as I mentioned in my post, that might suffice for most PCB cleaning jobs but it is not clearly stated what it is composed of, even the chinese text translation of box is marketting jargon, I already like using “530” cleaners for cleaning jobs but what it is composed of is a mystery and hence I won’t use them in every use case. For example is it skin safe? Or safe to breathe (i.e. use without lab grade fume hood)? Will it desolve materials like styrofoam? Will it damage mems electronics? Etc

But I woudn’t trust any chemical in the lab to be considered safe for health. Always wear gloves/mask.

Basically you have to do something hold breath while using, keep exhaust fans running and stuff.

Same here. Bought it for way too many times.

Redcop from Amazon. I have two of them and I would say they are good. Just the inner cap seal is annoying
