some questions :
a. which is better 7800GT or X1800XT ? I need better perfomance in games using HDR n stuff.
b. Is the X1800XT comparable to the 7900GT or is it better ??
c. How good is the card #5 i.e XFX 7600GT Extreme ?? is it decent for gaming at 1280*1024 High settings with HDR n all ??
I am planning to buy the card #1 but then the prices of 7800GT have also come down amazingly so was just a little confused.. btw i wont be buying from India.
Please rank the cards according to their perfomance. Also I have heard X1800XT is already discontinued ..and these are old stock cards .. so should i go for them or not ?? I want decent gaming for atleast 1 whole year and no problems with windows vista and all ..
7900GT is not in my budget .. its damn expensive now .. and its not in stock either .. will a 7900GT easily beat the sapphire x1800xt card ?? stock comparison without ocing.
The price of x1800xt and 7900GT should be nearly the same. if currently not avialable in UK at the targetted price then wait a few days and you will get it.
cant wait for more than 2-3 days .. as my frnd will be coming on 23rd of this month and it takes 3-4 days for delivery .. and also the sapphire card is available only for a limited time .. the stock might finish off .. so thats why i was wondering if the x1800xt is a good buy for 16k .. will it have some resale value or not ?? ..actually i am taking a risk .. i am asking my frnd to buy this card and just hoping that my x850xt pe sells by 25th of this month .. if it doesnt sell then ill put the sapphire x1800xt on te for the same price .. i hope people will buy it .. lemme know guys.
Stick with your X850XT if there are no new games releasing that you look forward to - I don’t think you’ll buy a new card and re-play old games. Another 6 months and you’ll see nvidia or ati release their next GPUs… my advice: save up and wait for that
Rumors are the G80 will be out by September and will have 48 shader pipelines and will support DX10/SM4.0… of course, it will also be faster than what nvidia/ati currently offer.
hmmm good suggestion rio .. thinking bout it .. have already played hl-2, doom3 ,nfs-mw, quake 4 comfortably .. and no real good games coming up except aftermath which will also run very smooth on my card except for hdr but that is acceptable .. maybe ill ask him to get me something else instead of a gpu then … anyways i can get any of u guys a single gpu from the uk if i dont plan to buy .. but everything at ur own risk and stuff .. lemme know anybody … me confused now.
X1800XT easily, you can keep waiting for something or the other all the time. Imho if you want to game upgrade now. There is no point in waiting since cards keep coming out one after the other. Around g80 there will be the r600 which should be equal if not better than the Nv offering. At around the same time there will be rumours about NV/ATi’s next cards as well (Just like now) Anyone would pay 16k for the x1800xt btw (i know i would ;))
If you keep thinking you will wait ange get something better it will be never ending wait.
First generation of DX10 games wont have too much eye candy difference if any than DX9 codepath. This has always been the case.
What DX10 offers over DX9 in terms of visuals is in itself is big mistery.
Get what you need now and while you can buy it from outside india.
You can easily sell it off at resonable price after using it for a while and plan to upgrade after next batch of cards come.
There are plenty of games lined up in near future. Oblivion is launching soon. And from the trailors its looking damn good game which will require some serious GPU power.
I would suggest waiting… I have a 7800GT and am goddamn sure it will run everything fine. But there will be big difference when u go onto G80/R600 from your X850, and the money spent will be worth it.
Also, go for the 7900GT if you must buy something. It will have (probably) a higher resale value when you next upgrade. Hope you get my flow
There is no guarantee on resale value even with the 79xx or 19xx… perfect and most recent example is the 7800GT… this was a great card and sold for like 22k. A new one is now 15 - 16k tops - that means owners of these cards will have to sell it for lower (maybe < 12k?). A used 6800GT could have been sold for 12k a couple months ago, now it’s impossible… I probably won’t even get 10k on my eVGA lol.
Bottom line, you currently have a decent card that will serve you well another 6 - 12 months… if you’re spending 20k on a card, buy something that will last you 1 - 2 years.
Yea but hes mentioned HDR and SM3 which the x850 cannot do. If ur getting the x1800xt for 16k and reaaally want to use HDR and SM3 on say Oblivion and UT2007 then go for it. U can get a good amount later for the card when u want to sell. Otherwise as Rio said its no point going for a new card now when SM4 is gonna come out later this year. Future games in 2007 will support SM4 and u will be in the same situation as u are in now, where u cant use the latest features.
