Which is the Cheapest DVD-RW drive right now?

I’d like to know which is the cheapest DVD-RW drive available in the market right now! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Ok, consider the performance also..but do tell the cheapest ones..

  1. LG H42 → (Best Buy performance wise also ? - for 1.7k ??)
  2. Benq 1650 ?
  3. Lite-ON ?

Awaiting replies with corresponding prices..

go for the sony sata dvd writer cost around 1950/-, its fast, my friend’s gonna buy it today, I think the model no. is dru-170c

As far as a DVD Burner is concerned, its always better to go with a tried and tested model. The H42N is a proven one and is very good for its price.

I think the model of sony sata drive is “Sony AW-G170S”

The BenQ DW1650 is also a solid drive… it served me well for close to a year, and I finally retired it to another PC and got the LG H42N (1.9k in Blore). Right now if you ask anyone which DVDRW, you’d only hear H42N

Agree with u H42 Rules For me Too

H42 doesnt hace PI/PF error/quality scanning…if you need those features (like i do!) then you need a Benq/LiteOn.

The Benq 1650’s arent available anymore, you’d only get the 1670’s which are not so impressive. And the LiteOn’s are quite expensive.

Another option is the Asus 1608P3S, it has PI/PF scanning too - though i believe its not as accurate as the Benq/Liteon.

i wud suggest u go for the new sony sata drive as i have bought one and they are really worth the money and are very quick indeed

cost me rs1950

Thats a very important point when buying a dvd writer… each specific model have their pros and cons… as for me im using a asus 1608p3s flashed to pio 111l… one of the best drives i’ve ever used.

agree with u

Asus 1608p3s or LG H42N. Avoid sonys… the current ones are either OEM samsung drives or optiarc drives… neither are very good.

My suggestion is for LG H42N(18x DVD+R speed) …costs arnd 1600 bucks all incl in Bangalore now. If PI/PF scanning then LIteon 20x for arnd 2k all incl

yo! Thanks.. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
Seems will settle with the LG

What’s the price of the LG H42N now?

And currently which is the cheapest DVD-RW Drive available?

20 days bak it was 1650…mumbai..frnd got it

Some people are having serious issues with the H42N.:frowning:
DVD reading probs galore while the same DVDs run smooth on the Sony or liteON.

Try and get the Sony Sata 170S something for about 1900 or lower or the LiteON 20x 20A1P from the newer gen.
But heard that the Sony SATA one has a bullet fast tray- samsung make maybe.

From the older lot, u might find the BenQ 1650 or 1655 retailing cheap- say 1700-1800 bucks, the Asus 1608p3 whic is a lil pricier.

LG 16x DVD Writer is 1.35k , i think that’s the cheapest.

Lite-On 20x DVD-RW is 1.85k pretty good and cheap.

Side Note: in 2004, MSI 8x DVD Writer costed 10k :face_with_tongue:

Depends what you want a writer for..

for me its to write dvd’-rs of stuff i want to keep.

so..stuff i want to keep i write to dvd-r.

to know that stuff will be ok you need scanning.

therfore i would not consider a drive that did not have good scanning.

and your choice here is a lite-on only, the benqs 1650 are unfortunately not there anymore. If you already have a reliable scanner…
…then, the LG is a fine buy, but if you have just the 1 writer my vote goes for one that can scan.

There are enough shit brand dvd-r’s out there, that if you dont have a scanner, you can not be certain that your data will be available in the future. So going for the cheapest media will cost you more in the long run, that is if whats written matters at all.

Which kinda kills the reason for writing to dvd-r, in the first place, doesn’t it

LOL, My Sony optical dirve was bagged for the same amount :face_with_tongue:
