Due to the summer heat my comp temp has shot up… I have been monitoring the temp but there is where i have got my doubt…
My mobo is MSI KT4AV-L… I use the PC Alert 4 soft that came with the mobo… But when i compare the proc temp with other softs like MBM, CPU Cool, CPU Idle, Sisoft Sandra there is always a difference of 4-5C… PC Alert shows higher temp that others…
I have a Athlon XP Barton 2600+ and during gaming PC Alert shows temp nearing 58-59… other softs show temp aroung 54-55…
I use ITE Smartguardian that came on my mobo cd… Since the monitoring chip on my DFI is an ITE, I guess that should be the best bet. Most ppl(read mad overclockers ) on xtremesystems have switched to it as well since MBM development stopped last year.
MBM doesnt work fine on many new boards. On DFI boards it needs a bit of coaxing with scripts before it can work. If you have an older board, it works fine without issues.
I have read that some softwares read the core temp while others read the socket temp… if that is the case cud that be the reason for the difference in temp???
I use the smart-speed software that comes with the m/b cd of the DFI-Ultra.
Apparently it is developed by ITE itself.
Everest Home Edition is pretty accurate also plus it gives the GPU core and the GPU ambient Temps of the Graphic card too.
Yeah Everest is a very neat program. The updated version detects any/all sensors (if present) on the system. I find it is the best system information tool, it’ll show you details of all the components, including hard drive RPM. I haven’t come across any other tool that’ll show you that.
Yes, as mentioned earlier…the development of MBM is stopped.
Last version released was Motherboard Monitor 5.3.7.0 on 18 June 2004.
That explains why many new boards are not supported.
