Windows 11, PCI update caused the dead of my Asrock 6750xt

I was update the windows 11 where i got the PCI update as recommended, did the update.

usually the screen come back after a second of blank, this time no output from GPU.

tried the GPU in another PC, it was completely dead. no power at all.

Gave for an RMA, let see how it comes around.

Curious to know, how an update can cause the GPU to die.

Highly unlikely it was the update. Did the gpu die the second after the update or some days later?

The second after the update,

“update was downloading - screen on

update was in process of installing - screen flicker to black

then no screen “

In order for the update to take effect it needs a restart or confirmation that the update is completed successfully right so I think it’s not because of the update.
Your GPU died on its own.

Unless the update caused a voltage spike? Were the wires / connectors fine?

What is the update that caused this? Please specify the number of the update.

Can you try booting with a bios reset ? CPU , GPU and Memory reset ? If it does boot up try safe mode .

It’s also possible that it’s a gpu bios issue. Maybe the update corrupted the GPU Bios.

Asrock accepted the RMA?

ITTefAACK! is what they call in hindi…coincidence!

GPU driver updates through windows updates don’t require restarts, it just downloads and starts installing on its own in the background, and the screen will go off and come back on normally.

Still unlikely that an update would kill the card though. The RMA should go through and he should probably get a replacement.

What is Windows 11 PCI Update?
