[Comp] ACM.org MSDNAA Access for 19$US (Windows 7, XP, Vista, more…) Free calculator - RedFlagDeals.com Forums
Thanks to Traian2003
So if anyone is interested in getting access to the MSDNAA website this is the cheapest route. You get two copies of Windows 7, plus all the other software available. Posted below.
ACM signup provides TWO licenses (2 English).
you can join ACM for $ 19 for a 1year membership with MSDN AA software access (same software)
Use this form and get a free calculator (while supplies last):
https://campus.acm.org/public/QJStuW...m_type=Student
ACM Quick Join Student Application Form: Add Publications — original student membership form — $ 19
sign up and ACM will send you log-in information
then you will have to wait till ACM lets you opt-in for MSDNAA membership — it will take approx. 1 to 2 days — to check if you can “opt-in”, log in to “MyACM” and under the “My Services” tab you will find a light blue box saying “Access ACM’s Student Academic Initiative (SAI) Programs: Developer Academic Alliance (formerly MSDN AA), Sun Academic Initiative, and CA Academic Initiative” — click on “Developer Academic Alliance” link in this box and if ACM has already processed your payment, you will be able to “opt-in” (however, you do not have to wait for the payment processed email ACM will sent you)
once you “opt-in”, MSDNAA will send you their log-in info within 24 hours (check your junk mail folder - my email was buried in junk)
once you got your MSDNAA login info, you will be able to log-in here
https://msdn01.e-academy.com/elms/Se...spx?campus=ACM
and download your software

FAQ:
Q. Can students keep these tools after they graduate?
A. Yes, this license is perpetual and nontransferable. You don’t have to uninstall the tools, but the stipulation of “academic use only†does not change. From MSDN AA Website (thanks to: i6s1)
Q: How long does it take to receive the log-on details?
A: 1-2 days.
Q: Do you have to be a student to signup?
A: Technically, yes, but they don’t ask for credentials.
Q: How many Windows 7 licenses do you get?
A: Four… two (Eng/Fre)for the x86 and two (Eng/Fre) for x64. But users are reporting that the keys are interchangeable.
Q: Where’s Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint? Will they be available?
A: Probably not.

Upgrade instructions :
For experienced users, this has been reported to work, to upgrade your system without losing your programs/settings (thanks to: Netcruzer and BobSagget). Don’t forget a fresh install is always the best way for reliability and speed.
Download the Win7 iso file.
Use MagicISO/PowerISO and erase the file ei.cfg
Then you will get a OS selection screen which you can pick
Upgrade to your required OS but do not enter the key (see the table below)
Once installed, use the Windows upgrade tool and insert your Win 7 Pro key.
For example, a Windows Vista Home Premium will upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium (without entering the key) and then use the upgrade tool in Win 7 to enter the Pro key.
DON’T FORGET TO BACKUP JUST IN CASE THIS FAILS!!
All license keys are only tied to the edition (i.e. Professional, Ultimate, etc.) and NOT the architecture NOR the language. Therefore a 64-bit (x64) key will activate on a 32-bit (x86) install and vice versa provided they are of the same editions. A French Key will activate an English install.
Each license key will only active ONE computer.
This means that (for IEEE), you can use the x64 French key to activate a computer installed using an x86(or x64) English ISO, or vice versa
These keys are a little different from the RETAIL keys you get in October
– You are supposed to be using these licenses for educational use
– You might have difficulty reactivating these licenses on the same computer after upgrading some hardware. You should be able to call Microsoft(Windows will give you a phone number if this happens) up to get a reactivation code
My college was a part of this program till last year.. damn now that I graduated, I am not able to log in!!
Does this really work. i.e. by paying 19$ for student membership anyone can get legit license for listed s/w ?
Yes it does work. You’ll get 4 swappable keys for the 4 copies of Windows 7 Professional highlighted in red. Please read the entire post.
it asks me to pay $18 by credit card. should i pay? is it worth?
We only get these discs for HTTP download right??? not the actual discs??
^^Yes…Once registered with MSDNAA, you will be asked to download an *.SDC file which upon completion unpacks into a ISO file.
how will they deliver licences? will they give OEM keys?
$18 for just 2 licenced software download?
paid…lets see…waiting for login details.
I guess people should wait before paying in haste.
The keys/serials will be displayed alongside the download links. Clicking on the download link prompts you to run a 400KB download manager which takes care of authorizing, downloading and unpacking the relevant ISO.
^and as per FireWalker777 method you can upgrade from Professional to Ultimate right ?
FireWalker777’s thread is only an extrapolation of data that he has gathered. Everything he has mentioned can only be considered speculative in nature since he himself has not personally exhausted all of the options .
That is why he clearly mentions that the safest bet is either a backup or a clean install .
Is this available to any ACM member..? My brother is an ACM member since the past couple of years..
And what is this SPecial Membership fees for students of developing countries that the site mentions..? Are they too eligible for this program..?

My credit card was declined
“We have been unable to obtain the necessary authorization for your Visa credit card in the amount of $19.00, for ACM Order ID xxxxxxx”
Was anyone using Indian cc successful in paying subscription fees? They just need Name on card, cc number and exp date, no VBV code which was made mandatory for indian cc holders by RBI for online payments. Maybe that is the reason my credit card was declined.
