The newer spin of the XFi core is on the 110nm process I believe. The original was 130nm. The new ones seemingly generate a bit more heat… hence the heatsink . Even mine has one. Another plus is that the new ones with the heatsink are guaranteed to be compatible with nf4 boards… so no static/crash issues like the old ones.
