What is this for?

I was looking for one to control the fan that cools my router, You can use a USB to USB pwm controller for any similar use case

to cool my caldigit ts4 dock. it doesnt have active cooling lmao and coming summer it may get toast as my legion out put air is directly hitting this baby

for now i have connected it a usb a cable and patched it but the fans are not running at full speed now. due to fans being 12v and the charger being only 5v

but how to connect the pc fan to this one? it only has usb a ports?

googled and this came up:

https://www.desertcart.in/products/123904450-coolerguys-4-pin-pwm-fan-to-usb-molded-power-adapter

looks interesting.

i did the same thing. its working but not at full speed. i can barely feel the air flow on my hands

ohhh :(. I was looking to order it myself. will hold off for now then :frowning:

1k bloody waste of money. just create one yourself. i just did and it took 10min

Use any old router’s 12v DC power adapter :-)

i do not have one :frowning:

but have you tested it. will it spin more fast? i mean at full speed?

I’m not sure, if this just has a plain temperature alarm or temperature controlled fans speed.

My original plan was to build & assemble this below but couldn’t procure the parts needed:backhand_index_pointing_down:

Yes, it will run at max speed

will this work?

Yes & for the fan, you can use any old 3pin 4 pin pwm fan

Just remember to connect Black wire (Ground) to the USB male ground and the Yellow/Red wire (+12V) to the +12V power

Without the PWM Speed Controller Module if you connect it directly the fan will run constantly at 100% percent max speed

Get any 12Volt 1Amp or 2Amp power supply/adapter as 120-140mm fans usually draw just 0.1A to 0.4A at 12V

before you do anything , ensure that the fan actually can spin fast, most pc fans dont spin that fast

full speed of the fans i have is 1200rps and 1400rps. if this is not good enough i will get a 3k one

better spend a k on this than spending 25k on new dock

1400rpm is low speed usually considered for silent operation rather than good air flow, am not saying it cannot provide good enough air flow but if after doing the modifications the speed still remains the same you’d be disappointed
