MCV claims that the Nintendo Wii will be available in Europe on November 24 and will cost a princely £149.

Citing exclusive sources, the report claims that there will be plentiful stock available to avoid shortages. It has been known that Nintendo has been manufacturing the Wii, which uses fairly simple and readily available hardware components, for some months already.

Nintendo's official press conference on the matter kicks off next Thursday in the US and Japan, whilst British press chaps (including us) will be at the European conference in London on the Friday.

If the Wii is readily available at Christmas, and the PS3 is nowhere to be seen, we can foresee a lot of people cashing in and spending their next-gen console money on either a Wii or 360. We're going to be queueing up for ours!

£149 seems like a good price.

I would really like to own a Wii....at that price it seems to be a very good buy. I think the controller is amazing and playing baseball or tennis on it would be real fun !!

Are you sure? £149 Pounds translates to ~$280 US Dollars. Just 20$ shy of a core x360. Not a good price at all.

Nintendo's Wii to Launch November 24th

Slightly late but still cheaper than the competition

According to reports, Nintendo's long awaited -- although not nearly as long as Sony's PlayStation 3 -- will be launched on November 24th of this year. An article in MCV magazine reports that Nintendo's Wii console will also be launched with a price of roughly $280. At this price, the Wii will still be less expensive than Microsoft's XBOX 360 and Sony's upcoming PlayStation 3.

DailyTech previously reported that Nintendo's Wii was going to launch during September or October. Industry insiders had predicted that Nintendo would give its new console some light during the Thanksgiving time frame. It appears now that the console will have a slight push back. However, Nintendo is still expected to make an official announcement next week on the date of its console.

Well you cant exactly convert like that. They always charge the brits more. The XBOX 360 core is almost 400$ US if you convert its price in UK to Dollars. But still ur point is taken, its not exactly cheap but dosent cost the earth either.

hunt3r is Right. The Brits do get charged a lot more than the Japanese and Americans do.

The real question is why people keep ignoring the link I posted that debunks the entire thread.

Could We See $150 Wii?

This scan from Vibe magazine has been making the rounds today. Are they just pulling this price out of their ass, or did they get some info we didn't? Nintendo will be announcing the Wii price point this Thursday at press events in all three regions, so at any rate it won't be long now.

I just took part in the recording of a new NeoGAF podcast, which should be up later in the week, in which I dismissed out of hand my fellow 'casters' beliefs that Wii will weigh in at $149. I've always been more of a $199 man myself, as I think that's more than mass-market.

But if Nintendo can get this thing out the door at $149, that would be a shockingly low price point. And now, what with the above magazine article and all, a buck fifty is seeming more and more likely. Will I be vindicated or shamed this Thursday? Game|Life will have a secret undercover operative at the New York press event, and we will bring you the news as it breaks.

Nintendo will be meeting up for a press conference (or perhaps already is as I type), for a final decision on launch date, price and lineup. Hopefuly we'd be sharing the info as well by the end of the day.

*waits patiently*

edit: here the exact timings, go figure.

Japan press conference will be Wednesday night for U.S, That's the 14th in Japan.

The press conference was delayed like hell I've heard and there was tons of rumours going around, people jumping the gun, that sort of stuff.
