0x80070057 Error during Windows 7 installation

I'm trying to install Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit version in my new rig.

Has anyone got this error.? This error occurs when I try to format my new Hard disk.

Also in my system configuration in the BIOS the RAM only shows 1796MB I have a

2048MB RAM though. :S

check the ram see if it is seated properly runa a memory diaognostic test

then are you installing the legit coppy or the bootlegged copy cuz i heard the bootlegged ones get screwed up easily

^yep I have removed the RAM and tried it out in two different sockets. But same error.

What memory diagnostic test should i run and how to run them ?

And I'm installing a brand new Windows 7 64bit Home Premium which I bought in Croma :)

woah, that sucks mate. You could use the in-house memory diagnostic tool by MS or you go for Memtest86+.

But I don't get the point of installing a 64bit OS on 2GB RAM?

@crazy_eddy: In the Sata option its all set to IDE.

@roadrippersid: I have not enabled ahci

I have also run both the windows Memory diagnostic tool and memtest86 both did not show any errors in the memory.

I tried installing Windows XP professional that that doesn't even start, the system restarts after some time.

I have absolutely no idea what to do or how to proceed. Any help guys ?
