Hi
my 1tb WD caviar green has developed bad sectors and hence i need to buy an external hd asap for backing up the data before the RMA process. i am planning to buy the external hd(1 tb) this weekend. budget is around 3-3.5k and i can live with usb 2.0.

I am interested in WD/Buffalo/Seagate whichever costs lesser.

at cost2cost, WD and seagate 1tb costs ~3k. I dont know about buffalo.
can anybody please suggest which one to go for?

Also, which brand hd does buffalo uses. i have heard it is usually samsung hard drives or probably the cheapest one in the market. can anybody throw some light on this too?

Thanks

Thanks for the recommendation.

but i am on a very strict budget. moreover i would be using this external hd for backup and if the 2tb goes kaput i may lose a lot of data. In that case i would prefer a 1tb(as of now) and a month later a 500gb hd.

~3.5k is the max i can spend at the moment.

bought a wd element 1tb from nehru place for ~3000. wanted to buy from letsbuy @2700(after coupons) but then i needed it urgently.
