Hello guys,
I want to buy a WD Cavair Black 1TB but im worried about its failure issues.Do the current lot still have issues or have they been resolved?and what if im getting it from the US?will i have Intl. Warranty and can i claim warranty/RMA in India??

how abt the Green and Blue's?do they have the same issues?
i really do want the Cavair Black since ill need it for my Multitasking work but if reliability is an issue ill go for the Green or Blue.
and again how abt the 750 and lower Blacks?

No issues with the Black as such .Have been using 2 of them since ~6-8 months. Runs a little hotter than the Green one's but performance is really good :) . Regarding warranty, I believe you can get it transferred once you are back in India. Metalspree had got his Indian drive RMA'ed in NZ after transferring the warranty .
 
Transfer WD warranty? Why would one do that? The drive is not registered under someone's name when you buy it.
 
Go with 7200.12 series from Seagate
I have read a comparison thread here between this and WD Black and it performs on par in most tests, albiet a little slower

I wouldnt want to wait 30 to 40 days for my primary drive to return back from RMA, only to find it defective again

I would rather spend some fuel and time to get it replaced in a week's time ( incase of seagate)
 
Is the SATA 3 version of 1 TB black, WD1001FAEX available in India ?

And are the recent HDD price cuts likely to reflect on the black series drives ?

anyway I purchased the WD1001FAEX from LYNX.

Coasted me 5.5k including shipping.

Performance..well i haven't bench marked or tested yet since im going through a very important system maintenance!
