A Kolkata court has ordered all 387 Internet providers in the country to block a list of 104 websites after the Indian Music Industry (IMI) filed suit against them.

Here is a list of the 104 music sites blocked.

Full Article

There are many others which are not in the list !

I think they can't stop it by just blocking few sites cause they will come back up under new domains.

Never used not a even one of them in my life, acutaully never knew there can be sites with such stupid domain names .On a side note there are better sites than these
<

Edit: I can still access most of them
<

As usual, using Google DNS will allow us to bypass the restrictions. But seriously, has anyone even heard of these sites
<

On a second note, I dont even remember listening to any new Hindi songs
<

Hindi songs what are they a new gadget is market ?

The day industry stops making Ra One and other cr@ppy movies i will watch movies in cinemas and buy legit music disks.

I guess songs.pk is a pretty common website, which was taken down.

Now they have changed to a new domain and rebranded themselves as songspk.pk
<

Site blocking on the Internet, thought it sounds easy, comes with its own set of problems. Blocking by DNS can be circumvented simply by entering a site's actual IP address instead of its name. Blocking by IP address can be bypassed by moving a site to a new server that carries a new IP address. URL blocking has little effect when an existing site simply changes its name.

Its a waste of their efforts.

there are 100 other sites offfering the same mp3s..don't know whats the use of blocking the sites..if any user want to download the songs then one way or another he will ..

apunkabollywood.com, gogrumogru.com/songs.ind.in, chirkutonorkut.com.!

^^ Bannd toh hona hi tha!
<

'All' in the list i've only visited songs.pk and that too 3-4 years ago.

this is ridiculous, firstly, ip blocking and dns blocking is sufficient, wonder why they want deep packet inspection, the net in india is anyways so slow that we are struggling here for bandwidth and connectivity and now this, who needs this stuff, and i also fail to see the initiative its simply a waste of time, they fail to realise that along these sites, there is p2p, people all over the world now use bittorrent and i don't think there is even 10% of the people who use these sites.

I think our govt must spend its time on giving us better connectivity and speeds rather then worrying about all this stuff..

You guys should stop worrying that blocking is useless.ISP companies working under court orders may reveal where you have been.details of downloads etc.the intent of judiciary is to watch out for! It may soon establish harsher laws! Executive àction in India has been poor in technical matters but it may very well be outsourced to a private party .I guess this is the beginning of a trend by the government and business to control the internet in India!

If that is the governments way of "big brothering" us, they will fail extremely hard
<
. Also at the same time i do feel piracy needs to be controlled in India especially as its so damn rampant here that people actually think sites like songspk and apunkabolly etc are actually the only legal way to get music

Yeah I have also seen that.

In fact, if my memory serves right, in the year when 3 Idiots was nominated for filmfare, the clipping they used in the nominations was ripped from a PDVD Rip.

I have downloaded few songs from songs.pk

But recently i got a chain mail in my inbox giving few stats about hits/downloads and finally saying that songs.pk profit money goes to Terrorists camps in Pakistan for Jehad
<
<

So don't download from it.

Any other on TE got that chain mail
