Monitors 1080p 34" Ultrawide - worth it?

I am interested in buying a 34" Ultrawide monitor, and the 1080p ones seems within my budget.
I have used my last monitor for 8 years and am looking for similar longevity from my new purchase. The only thing I feel might out date my purchase is the 1080p resolution. Also, as of today I do not think 4k is worth it - we do not have enough 4k content nor do we have the processing power to drive games at 4k.
So wanted to know what others feel - is 1080p good for another 8 years?

No. Its absolute garbage. Even 2560*1080 on 34 inch is bit off for me, personally.

I would say a 1440p will hold good for few years. But 8 years.. NO. 4K 60+Hz, 240 Hz, 5K etc are already in market. Next 8 year will belong to High Refresh & High Resolution, in that order.

Or at least wait till Q2 2018. Lots of new monitors slated for release.

I am still on a U2412 (1920*1200)as PC monitor. Reasons, my desk space is limited, Only have a GTX 1070 and I have a 65" Samsung MU8000 sitting right next to it.

Yeah but don't think its garbage :p, its good for now.
But the price difference between HD and QHD is at least $200 now.
Lets see if i can hold off for few months

Yes. It is garbage. I have been through the roller coaster of resolutions. Went through 4 displays until the X34. Desk space and new ones incoming made me return that as well.

You wont feel it until you see the next up resolution. Until then, it would be nice. The change in pixel density, text clarity, content creation all are very different.

1080p will be good enough for 3-4 years, at least, if not lesser. We are coming to a point where 1080p screens are becoming common on mobiles. For 8 years though, you might be behind the times.

Now, we have movies shot in 4K as well, plus the hardware too is coming in.

Thanks m-jeri, but I am specifically looking for ultrawide monitors. I searched all of lamington road for LG 34UM69, but couldn't find it.

They do not ship to India - so that price is for you guys in the US
lucky dudes - all the latest and greatest goods at the best price
