Without question, it would be better if all TVs accepted a 1080p input. (Read that again before you start sending your e-mails.) What I hope this article points out is that, if you have a HDTV that only accepts 1080i, you're not missing any resolution from the Blu-ray or HD DVD source.

But...

If you're a gamer, then there is a difference, as 1080p/60 from a computer can be 60 different frames per second (instead of 24 different frames per second doubled and tripled, as with movie content). It is unlikely that native 1080p/60 content will ever be broadcast or distributed in wide numbers.

Home Theater: 1080i v. 1080p

So I guess I dont really really need a 1080p HD Player. 1080i HD Player will do just as well.

SO I guess the only reason to get a 1080p display would be to use it as a monitor with a higher res than a 1080i?

You would also want to have a 1080p display if you wanna play games at true HD because even though there is no difference in content for 1080i or 1080p signal when playing HD movies, there is difference in content when playing games.

^^ But as of now there are very few Full HD (1080p) games on the PS3 as well as 360 naah ??

^ Games are not full HD or anything, games will work at whatever resolution you set them to work.

Basically 1080p has a higher refresh rate than 1080i, hence all the hoolah about games!
