1080p Upscaling software

Okay, so I have a full HD monitor, and the DVDs I buy are not even 720p, is there a software that uses my HD5850(or just CPU, X4 620) in real time to upscale content to 1080p?

Recommend the best both paid and freeware and opensource.

You can try some video converters like Xilisoft video converter ultimate, it can upscale any video to HD one :)

^^ by upscaling I meant true on-the-fly upscale, not stretch the video to fit the whole screen.

And I know Xlisoft, but I want on-the-fly, not video converters.

Is PowerDVD capable?

Use any mediaplayer to watch the DVDs in full screen, they will use upscaling to fit the screen. It is impossible to get anywhere close to an actual 1080p source using DVDs though.

What you are referring to as stretching is actually upscaling too. Anything which is not viewed in its actual resolution is upscaled/downscaled.

If you are referring to the stretching as being too stretched in only one dimension, then you are probably using a 4:3 source on a 16:9 screen and still filling the screen. Find how to "keep aspect ratio same" in your mediaplayer and the video will not be stretched. The excess screen will be filled with black bars though.
If you are using mediaplayer-classic.
In "Video Frame", select "touch window from inside". Check the Pan & Scan settings of MPC and reset them.

Sorry for bumping this old thread! Just bought a full HD monitor and noticed that non-1080p video look quiet bad. Is there some app that can upscale video in "real time"?
