An 11-year-old boy has sent a legal notice to job Web site naukri.com claiming damages of Rs 1 crore for using part of his name 'Hari' allegedly in a derogatory manner.

Hari Bhanot, in his notice, charged that an advertisement of the site had resulted in mental harassment and agony as many of his friends and acquaintances made him a butt of jokes after watching it on TV.

The advertisement in question has a person explaining over a telephone the full form of the name Hari as "H for Hitler, A for Arrogant, R for Rascal and I for Idiot", it said.

The legal notice, sent by Aneesh Bhanot on behalf of his son Hari, says "the advertisement is totally insensitive to the name Hariâ€.

"The telecast of the advertisement has undermined the status, reputation, respect and self-confidence of my client and has severely affected his standing in the school, residential locality and social circle. After the advertisement came on air, many people known to my client have told him that they have a lower opinion of him," he claimed.

The notice wants withdrawal of the advertisement forthwith and a public apology from the Web site in the same manner and coverage as the advertisement has been given and pay Rs 1 crore as damages and said failing this criminal and civil proceedings would be filed against naukri.com.

public apology from the Web site in the same manner and coverage as the advertisement has been given

Does that mean we're going to see ads on tv saying "We apologise to Mr. Hari blah blah"?!

 !! This is not US, this is India..

They'll get paid in their dreams

You mean in the distant unforeseeable future..

maybe by the time this 11-year old becomes a 80-year old with what, all the appeals and tosh..

Too bad you ca'nt copyright persons names or they could really sue then.

In the end, I mostly blame the kid's dad for not kicking his son when he suggested suing Naukri.com. Maybe the money overcame his dad's logical senses.

this is crazy. They see the ad in a totally different context. Heck the whole thing could've been planned by the parents to grab some fame and money along with it.

Its just a very desperate way to earn money...But I don't think they are gonna

be paid a single rupee..The DAD is the crazy one according to me.

Man, I think the father IS the lawyer or complainant (it said he sent it on behalf of his son).

He knows that if he loses he just has to pay a measly 5k. In exchange, he gets publicity.

well ..

i am sure that DADDY dear will be shellin out a good amnt of money and then he can give his sonny boy a high five as he wd be the butt of the joke around , as he wont be able to get the expenditures recovered... :P

well even he does file a case.. it would only go to the consumer court.. and not the high court...

which would be done with within a month(ya consumer courts are pretty quick)

Naukri.com will win the case. .. but not after paying a compensation to the boy.

ya they would have to pay(not 1cr though...and only if the agony of the boy is real)

it seems that no one is supporting the boy.jus imagine u r name being spelled like that by ur friends and others.i think the boy (hari) deserves justice, he is jus 11 years old think abt his feelings ..............but asking for 1 core compensation is greedy :@ its not the his mistake or naukri's ........ :( he became an victim of circumstances . his father has to think of an constructive way to get his son out of this rather behaving like an fool.
