Now such news really pisses me off :( WT* WT*

When 15-year-old Olivier Baptiste refused to hand over the video game he was playing to his 18-year-old friend William Suarez, Suarez pulled out a .32-caliber Smith and Wesson from his waistband and shot Baptiste in the head. This according to police, who have charged the alleged killer with manslaughter, illegal possession of a firearm, assault with a dangerous weapon, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.

Sounds like one seriously screwed-up individual right there.

This is similar to the incident back in July, where a young boy stabbed his older brother to death for not letting him have his turn at a video game, in both situation and press reaction. Some of the headlines I have seen include:

Family: Game led to teen's murder - BostonHerald.com
Video game linked to fatal shooting in Brockton - The Patriot Ledger

Just don't be surprised if the major news outlets pick this up with accompanying inflammatory anti-video gaming headline.

Tragedy: 15-Year-Old Killed For Not Passing Game

Things like this makes me wish again and again, that I was born in 60's.

I would have been potheaded hippy and wouldn't have cared a jackshit about constant decline of humanity.

Some people are really screwed up in the head.....

Welcome to the life mate. Show me a man not cracked inside his head and I will show you a dodo.
As for games, yes they are violent, do more bad than good, simulate mind often in a wrong way, but so what.
Same can be said for books, movies, our education, our government, our society, our careers. This is how we are. If we are not violent we are not humans.
The trick is to channelize this violence somewhere where it does least harm to others.

Cheers

:D.. lol... correct, that's why I wanted to be in 60's. cause in today's world, you never know what you would get shot for.

Well said mate....the chances of finding a dodo is a lot higher than the prior....

One thing we need to take in account......... both are game mad.... & this thing happened.......

Please friends....... Passion is another thing .......... Madness is rather....

lol i actually thought a kid was shot for not passing(finishing) the game :P was feeling lame after reading the thread

Passion is one thing. But obsession to the point of killing someone is quite another. Sad that such incidents keep happening now and then. Reminds me to stay sane
