Any thoughts on this configuration? Just posted it before pulling on the trigger. Basically, it should be a gaming + movies + browsing laptop..

PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7200 (2.00GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 667 MHz
17 inch UltraSharpâ„¢ Wide Screen UXGA Display with TrueLifeâ„¢
2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz
120GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability
256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7900 GS
Integrated Audio
Intel PRO/Wireless 3945a/g edit
Dell Wireless 355 Bluetooth Internal (2.0 + Enhanced Data Rate)

Cost comes to around 1700$ with tax.. I suppose this is the best gaming config i can get for my money..

Anyhow, the reason i posted is havent chosen still whether to go 4 a WUXGA screen or a WSXG+ screen.. Would the WUXGA screen make everything very small on a 17"??

Need inputs fast as i dont have much time.. The 500$ coupon that im using to get the price is ending in a day..:S

Thanx in advance..

Hi
I dnt know abt the screens.Looks like all other configs are good. But I suggest u go for a 7950GTX if possbile since its almost impossible to upgrade. But if u are casual gamer ur current config should be enough.Any way DX10 is here.

For price comparisons see rjtech.com.Its hould give u a general idea for price vs config.
Best of luck.

I hope i dont disappoint you,but this isnt the best time to buy a gaming laptop as

Santa rosa is just a month away

Dx10 is also a month away.

and it might cost lesser and perform better and get a much better platform as such..

In case its an urgent decision,go for it,its slick config as of now

and for if u ask me ill take a WSXGA+ over WUXGA

^ Absolutely. It doesn't make any sense to buy a DX9 notebook which wont even last 12 months.

Wait for Santa Rosa and get a 8600/8800GO atleast ;)

Ok, cool! Thanks guys.

Me too was thinking about waiting for the Santa Rosa.. Have decided to postpone purchase and wait for DirectX 10. :)

there is no official news of release for the 8600/8800 Go, is there..??

from wat i read, there was no clear date on the launch..

please correct me if i'm wrong
