Anyone ever used the Philips 107T5 17 inch CRT? How is the colour and picture sharpness? Please let me know.

Its not good
One of my friends have and within a month or so the picture has got a greenish tone
Moreover the sharpness is not good.
Only attractive feature is its 3 yr warranty

What do you mean by greenish tone ??

COz that happens even on my monitor. But only when I move the monitor around while it is switched on...... I need to turn the monitor off and after 2-3 mins, turn it back on.... then it is back to normal.

for CRT's , i'd suggest Samsung hand down ... i use one , and would rate it over any other monitor anyday .. MagicBright rockz .. specially alongside Digital Vibrance ..

But the 107T5 is a real flat tube vs Samsung 794MG FST and it has a lower dot pitch 0.21H (0.25 DDP) vs Samsung 794MG 0.23H?

Nikhil, do you have the same model..107T5?

Anyone having the samsung 794MG please comment also w.r.t your experience with this monitor.

which model of samsung is good n wats price!

I'm on the lookout for a good 17 inch real flat CRT also. I require it to be white/ivory as the rest of my system is. Thing is, there are few choices now.

I think the top recommended 17 inch CRTs were LG E700SH and Viewsonic E72f+SB. Someone on TE mentioned that the E72F+SB is not as good as the Samsung 798MB. I've seen the 798MB but was not impressed. It was not as good as the 997DF(19 inch). I don't like the external look of the LG E700SH and I think availability is an issue nowadays. But no one has had anything bad to say about the E700SH.

The E70f was my next consideration but even Techtree has rated it quite poorly. Plus it looks pretty bad(I guess all of Viewsonics' models save for the E72f+SB or other 17 inch f+SB models look pretty bad.)

I wanted the Samsung 793DF from Samsung but it is unavailable right now and people have reported a lot of issues with them as seen on the Techtree website. The only options available in white are the Samsung 794MG and the Philips 107T5. Unfortunately, there's very little info on these models available.

Not much good has been said by philips monitors. But they seem to be quite frank with their specs and I trust Sony, Panasonic and Philips vs Samsung and LG. People have also reported that the DF(Dyna Flat) or MB(Magic Bright) series from Samsung is not actually flat unlike the NF(natural flat) series which we don't get in India.

Feel free to add any information you have.

I purchased and have to return it same day. Colors were bad and could not adjust the full screen. Immiditely took it back to shop and then he got me another one with same problem. Shopkeeper tried with multiple PCs with same ersults. Eventually replaced with Samsung.

That could have been bad lot but my suggestion is to avoid it.

Thanx mate. I guess I'll be going in either for the Samsung 794MG or the
LG E700SH. I don't like the outward appearance of the LG E700SH though. Will need some pretty convincing argument to go for the LG flat monitor.

hello

Can any one help me? I have recently bought a samsng 794MG monitor, but the problem is at the "left corner" the brightness is bit low and the icons on that corner if observed are not as sharp like the icons above, i even opened a blank page but i can still see the brightness slightly low at the left corner of the screen is there any solution for this problem.

harshad.

Looks like a problem with your 794MG Harshad. You may need to get it replaced (if it's new) or repaired.

Btw totally forgot that the 794MG is not flat when I went to purchase it. Lucky I saw an opened piece in the shop.
