Should I buy 17inch screen guard for my Toshiba C870 laptop which has "43.9 cms (17.3) High-Definition Clear SuperView LED Backlit Display"
or 19 inch screen just to be on the safe side. Will the 17 inch screen protector be small for my screen??

I am asking a question for such a small matter because these cost much more than ordinary screen protectors.....

unless you use your laptop on a construction site, a screen protector for 17'' non-touch screen is an overkill.

i dont think the screen protectors will do anything other than darken up the screen and if the material is not 100% transparent and made properly, the backlight will shine through it and give out rainbow effect. i mean, the plastic screen will act like a prism and will diffract light coming from the lcd panel and it will make viewing the screen unbearable.

it will protect the screen from scratches(better to be safe than Rs6000 sorry).it will only act as prism if the thickness is not uniform(If i remember class 12 physx properly).Good quality screen protectors like from Scratchgard have uniform thickness,so no rainbow effect.Coming back to original question Is 17inch screen protector too small for 17.3inch screen??

yes, 17'' will slightly fall short. take your laptop to the shop and try various fits. if required, you need to cut it to size.

anyways, as you are adamant on putting on a screen protector, you may find it relieving that your original LCD screen is always protected by a false screen behind the bezel. so, you are just saving this false screen from scratches.
