Hi guys,

Yesterday I was connecting my old AL 2.0 (Now I have MX5021:clap: ) to my onboard audio Realtec ALC 7.1, and I got somthing like surround sound this way....
Actually I changed speaker setting to 4 channel from 2 channel, and connected MX.. to front and old AL 2.0 to rear and it was giving somewhat surround sound.

So I got an idea....:p

If I change speaker setting to 6 channel, and connect MX.. to centre/sub, a pair of 2.0 to front and an another pair of 2.0 to rear, Will I get 5.1 surround this way?

Thats my doubt is?

Yep you can definitely make a ghetto 5.1 channel system by connecting pairs of 2.1 channel systems! There's nothing at all holding you back :)

However the main issue here is matching the speakers between themselves in terms of tonality, sound levels, etc.

Assuming you're pairing an MX and some other AL set, the speakers between the two sets will have widely varying properties in terms of frequency response and just how they "sound" i.e. their tonality. If you're using identical speakers for all channels, you would not have this issue - but then again it isnt exactly economical to buy 3 pairs of MX5021's ;)

Moreover you'd need to individually adjust each set to a correct volume level to match them. Most of these issues would not really create a satisfying audio experience.

P.s: I hadnt viewed the thread as yet , So make it 20 views and 1 reply :eek:hyeah:
