hello,
i am looking for a external hdd,2.5 inch size,as i require it to be portable, and have a lesser footprint.now,i searched online and have decided my budget as rs 4000,not more.i thought of the following options
Buy Online: Western Digital 500 GB External Hard Drive

RMC Western Digital My Passport 500GB USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive WDBKXH5000ABK | eBay

Western Digital 500GB Passport Hard Disk WD USB 3.0 | eBay

Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 500 GB USB 3.0 Ultra-Portable External Hard Disk Drive. | eBay

1.what is the difference between the three western digitals?
2.i see a price difference of about 600 between the elements and the passport.and it is quite tempting.so,why do the passports cost more than the elements?any special/useful features?
3.there is a go-flex ultra too.so,what is the advantage it offers for 500rs more?
4.are there any good deals for a 1tb drive?
the passport and the seagate go flex cost the same.
i am looking for usb3,which all have.all have 3 years warranty(am i right?)
which is better?

Go for the third one WD 500GB Passport USB 3.0-3.7k,It's priced more than the first link one because it's 2.5" in size and has 5GBPS transfer speed. You can also go for Segate Go flex Drive if you want but WD Passport are usually good. You'll get 3 years warranty from both companies,So go for it.About the deals on 1TB USB 3.0 then look at sites like Shopclues,Tradus OR Flipkart but it's difficult to find such deals but keep looking.Hope this helps.:)

first one is also 2.5" and give 5gbps transfer speed on usb3 connection WD WDBPCK5000ABK 2.5 inch 500 GB External Hard Disk | External Hard Drive | Flipkart.com
the price difference is because first one is elements and third one is passport.

the passport comes with additional utility "WD SmartWare."

Well there must be some deal then,It's written 42% off,On flipkart it's 4.2k.The link you shared in your first post didn't show 2.5" so i got confused.Get it from shopclues then i mentioned that they have some deals going on,Go for it.

thanks for the replies!
i think i will go with western digital,and,500 gb it is.about the elements vs passport issue,i could only find vague differences between the two-bit smaller and some software.
i dont need any software,am content with simple cut/copy and paste method of transfer.so,could i rid the passport of the software?
also,IF i manage to get a 10% off coupon, through some kind chap in the hot deals forum,i MAY be able to get the passport for ~3400rs,which is almost same as the WD elements offer price(~3200rs).so,i guess,i'll wait, hope to land a coupon and go for the passport?

also, about warranty,i read that it should not be a parallel import, should have clean papers and a importer sticker.
is it that necessary?how to ensure i get these done through ebay?i mean,i will ask the seller if he is offering all these and buy it,and if incase i get a grey market piece,i can always go for paisa-pay right?

^first you can contact the seller and you can clarify all your doubts, also if you are not happy when you recieve the product you can raise a complaint at paisa pay.
