2 MBPS ADSL from tataIndicom: whats the download speed supposed to be?

Hi,
i just signed up for a 2mbps ADSL connection from TataIndicom with a compression of 1:8.
I figure that my download data rate should be 2048 / 8 = 256KB / sec. I am only getting a speed of around 110kb.

Is this correct. The TataIndicom guy told me that i should be getting just 32k and should be happy that i had 110k.....

please educate me on this.

Firstly its a 2Mbps connection with a small b , which translates to256kBps .
Now since you have a contention ratio of 1:8 that would actually give cc a chance to say its 256 kBps/8 = 32 kBps connection, although that shouldnt be the case ..
 
i am getting gettin abt 230-240kB on torrents and nearly 250kB on http....and the minnimum guaranted speed is 64kB (i.e. 512K)...

have you tried different sources??
 
Its called DS-92NFU and its supposed to be 2MB for 299/- months and 40 paise per MB

"DS-92 NFU-299(Super Fast) Upto 2 MB 299 0.4 0"

Maybe i am stupid but every where i checked my downloads were around 110kb/s

I have another 2mbps Tata Broadband connection and that gives me a speed of around 220 kb/s for the same file.

never heard of this plan before!
you have ur connection as the web based login rite? no router rite?
 
No web based login at all.....just a ADSL modem and cable to the network card. Always on
its a special thats on right now and its by TataIndicom...not Tatabroadband
