Hi , can you`ll suggest a 2 TB SSD m.2 , which will be used for video editing ( clips will be stored in the SSD to edit off ) . looking for something in 11-14k .
every time i select one ... i read something bad of it , so confused

Maybe an easier question to answer would be what resolution video are you looking to edit?

I doubt any of the a60 or nv1 would cut it for, say, 4k raw footage?

Pick your favourite Samsung SSD.
Also check if your device supports NVME drives. Since you are going to be editing videos, faster speeds will help.

Go for Samsung if it fits within your budget. 970 Evo Plus is better than 980. I recently purchased SKHynix P31 Gold from USA. But you can find very good deals in this thread too.

For video editing , choose a SSD that has LARGE SLC Cache and DRAM buffer and consider that you will be using only 75% of the SSD Space at max.(Calculate the required SSD capacity accordingly).
Since your budget is around 11-14k, you might wanna increase it a little bit and get something like :-

Adata XPG gammix s70 blade
Kingstton KC3000

i am excluding samsung 980 pro , Crucial p5Plus , WD SN850s because they are very much out of your budget range although they are the best choice.

hey , thanks everyone for the reply . just trying to limit spending for now , may get a new setup next year . so was thinking of the following. all without Dram i guess .
Kingston NV2 2TB
Western Digital WD Green SN350 NVMe 2TB
Crucial P3 Plus 2TB
Silicon Power P34A60 2TB
just want to know if this will last long, as the project is completed it will be shifted to a HDD and then start with a new one . So with all this data transfers will this drives last long ?

Life of SSD is dependent on how much write/read has occurred, operational temperatures, along with other things.

Also tagging along this query - If one has Intel system with PCIe 4 slots, can a card like this be useful instead of external raid? The card doesn't seem too expensive, but not sure how caching would work, as this only supports software raid, which means no cache on the card itself.

The best way to determine this is to look up the data sheets/detailed specs on the manufacturer websites (or on reviews) and check the TBW (Terabytes Written) spec; for example, the P3 Plus 2TB has a TBW of 440TB, meaning that you could write 100GB to the SSD every day and expect it to last around 12 years. That said, depending on the kind of bitrates you intend to be working with, you're much more likely to hit some sort of defect with the SSD before hitting its write endurance limit, so I'd go with the one with the longest warranty first and foremost.

Honestly, for this use case, unless you're dealing with multiple video streams of bitrates above 100Mb/s, I don't think you'll hit any real bottle necks, even without a DRAM/SLC cache, but that's just a guess on my part - you'd have to ask someone who has experience with this kind of workload.

Just my two cents, DRAM less SSDs will absolutely tank as soon as you fill up SLC cache and at 75% disk usage the performance gonna drop even further.

Please go with a DRAM drive, I wouldn't be surprised if a DRAM sata ssd performs better when averaged over an extended period of time.

I have WD Blue SN 570 1 TB and if my files are bigger than 12.5 GB (SLC cache) write speed drops to 450-550.

If you can't go for a DRAM one, please go with WD Blue or equivalent. At least you get a good TBW and consistent performance.

so currently im in the UK for a month, Im getting SN 770 2tb for Rs 10000 and SN 570 for Rs 8700 whats better . will be adding to asus zephyrus g15 2021 or use as a external drive to edit video from

SN770 is better, but your laptop doesn't support Gen4 NVMe. Look for prices of 970 evo, if its too expensive vs SN570, just get SN570. Forget about the warranty.

Use internally if you have extra M.2 slot.

Have the same drive, and I get about 300mbps sustained write for files larger than about 10-15GB. The 6yr old 2TB SATA SSD with over 33,000 power on hours and god knows how many writes delivers a consistent 490mbps even when transferring my 400GB Steam library.
But for video editing both should be on par unless you are working with more than 3-4hours of raw/prores 4K footage.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Remember DRAM Cache seems unnecessary until you have used a drive that has one. The consistency of a good DRAM drive feels like heaven. I have since switched to a 4x1TB MX500 SATA SSDs and I love the consistency. Moreover, I use Veeam for daily backups (boot drive) and my computer would stutter during backups (note that this is a gen3x4 SSD), a week back I switched to a 500G MX500 for boot drive, and damn I don't even notice the backups anymore.

hey everyone , finally got the Western Digital WD Black SN770 NVMe 2TB from UK for Rs 10,000. Was getting Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2 TB for Rs 8000 , but no international warranty
