Though the RC1 was leaked as build 7100 which I am using last 36 hrs, its rock solid & hasn't crashed while playing movies which the earlier build 7000 did.

They have also sorted out the SATA driver issue so I can now install & configure the hdd as sata which would give a performance boost further.

What are your expectations with the final RC1 releasing tomorrow sometime, are you going to grab it at 1st go or would like to wait to read the reviews & then decide if you want install or not.

From my side I am using as win7 x64 as my main OS & enjoying the RC1 build 7100 which I ungraded from build 7000, though the upgrade went fine without any problems it took 54 mins to do the upgrade. I am noticing slow boot & shutdown in build 7100, it could be bcoz I upgraded instaed of clean install.

My tomorrow evening is booked for doing clean install of official RC1 what about you?

I'll also start the download as soon as I can get it, but will probably be during the weekend when I install and configure it... can't wait to play with stuff like speech recognition and try Crysis on it...

Eagerly waiting to test this, just googled it & found it.

Microsoft Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP Mode for Windows 7 Build 7100 x64

is anyone using win 7 on a netbook? if so, how's the performance? i'm aware that people have managed it and i was planning on trying it out once the RC released. the only issue is that i can't connect my netbook to the internet because of my isp and having beta software without the possibility of updating it doesn't sound like the greatest idea in the world.

err isn't build 7100 that leaked the same as RC1 that is releasing tomorrow ? :S

IF the MD5 checksum is same to leaked RC 7100 then yes, will only get to know tomorrow same time.

refreshing the page every hour or so.
there will some doing it every min & making sure the MS site crashes :clap: they would keep the F5 key pressed till its shows as available & when its available then the page wont be available :ohyeah:

Do you mean Virtualization? and what about AMD??

Yes its Virtualization & win7 needs hardware support for it to install unlike the Virtual PC whichwas just software Virtualization only.

For AMD-based machines, practically all Opteron server CPUs support AMD-V, as do all Phenom desktop processors, all Athlon 64 X2 processors with Socket AM2 dating back to 2007, and all dual-core Turion 64 X2 processors. Look for logos such as the Intel vPro and AMD-V symbols, which certify a machine as supporting virtualization in hardware.

Installed the Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP Mode for Windows 7 Build 7100 x64 & every thing working fine, after installation it took a while to prepare its 1st start & the cool feature is everything gets seamlessly integrated to windows 7. Internet is working , local area network is working, I can simple copy/paste & move data from XP to Windows 7& vice versa.

Installed some old software which run only on XP & now I am enjoying both of XP+WINDOWS 7

XP runs full screen & alt+tab gives you thumbnails to switch. Awesome integration.

Only drawback I am seeing is that XP runs in 16 bit screen may be i need to install the graphics card driver only then it would show 32 bit colors.

Seems every thing is arriving on time, just received this mail from Microsoft

Windows 7 Release Candidate Announcement

Thank you very much for your help in testing the Windows 7 Beta. Your feedback is invaluable in helping make Windows 7 a high quality operating system. With your help, we have reached the next major milestone on the journey to Windows 7: the Release Candidate (RC).

- On April 30th, the RC became available to MSDN subscribers and TechNet Plus subscribers.

- On Tuesday, May 5 (PST), the RC will be available to everyone via our Customer Preview Program. As with the Beta, the Windows 7 RC Customer Preview Program is a broad public program that offers the RC free to anyone who wants to download it. It will be available at least through June 30, 2009, with no limits on the number of downloads or product keys available.
So you don’t need rush to make sure you get your copy. When you’re ready to download the RC, it’ll be waiting for you.

To get the RC please use one of the following links:

- Developers

- IT Pros/Microsoft Partners

- Tech Enthusiasts/Consumers
IMPORTANT: If you are running Windows 7 Beta you’ll need to back up your data (preferably on an external device) and then do a clean install of the Windows 7 Release Candidate. After installing Windows 7, you will need to reinstall applications and restore your files. If you need help with the installation process, please see the Installation Instructions.

If you’re running Windows Vista, you can install Window 7 RC without having to back up and reinstall your programs and data. But to be on the safe side, please do backup your data before you start.

Please note: All users of the Windows 7 Release Candidate (including Windows Vista users who have upgraded to the Release Candidate) must do a clean installation of Windows 7 RTM. Please keep this is mind as you consider downloading the Release Candidate as opposed to waiting for the general availability release.

Thanks again for your help in reaching this important milestone. We hope that you will join us in testing the RC and finishing Windows 7!
