24online client vs zone alarm

i have 24online client 1.3.1.1, the cyberoam thing. and then i have zone alarm pro 5.5.094.000

now the problem im getting is that the internet connection suddenly stops working after sometime aftr logging in, it happens suddenly. the gateway pings fine and all.

now all i have to do go get back the internet is
- shutdown zone alarm
- shutdown and restart zone alarm
- or shutdown restart/relogin the system

i wonder y this is happening. did u guys have this problem?

which firewall do u think i should use

UR ISP uses a hearbeat server that pings u every few minutes to check whether u are alive.... ask them the IP of that server and put it in the trusted zone of ZA.. shud work..

so according to what u said, this problem should occur only when im inactive rite?

it happens even when my downloads in azureus and bearshare are running. do u think its still the same problem?
 
hi,

this happens in ZA. i had faced it myself and even i had to do the same u mentioned. however, the only way round is to change the firewall coz even the setting which kingkrool mentioned doesnot work as i had tried that in the past.

this is an issue with zone alarm and not ur isp. jus to know who is ur isp?
 
Look, there is a port setting which can fix this... in fact go to ZA's site and search for heartbeat, I remember there was some PDF on how to get it to work...
 
i guess this is not about heartbeat bcos when this happens, only the web access through browser stops. other p2p softwares work fine. so it must b some dns problem

but now, after i installed xp with sp2, there seems to be no problem at all. dint lose connection since i installed sp2. and im using ZoneAlarm Pro version:6.0.667.000
