In all the brands the Memory clock speed of 6600NonGt 128 MB PCIE is higher than the 6600NonGT 256 MB PCIE.

@goldenfrag: could you justify why 256MB asus? I don't see the reason why u recommended it.

256MB is useless on a 6600. Stick with the fastest clocked 128MB and save cash!

Well to tell u the truth, I havent seen a 6600 64bit in my life for sure ;)
 
All 6600's are 128 Bit.

6600 GT is 256 Bit.. right? (Correct me if im wrong)

I said he'd rather go with a 256 MB 6600 as the performance will be significantly better. Like maybe 20 fps+ in most games. Even with the slower memory clock.

I said to go with the Asus as i read a review, in the 6200/6600/6800 field the Asus beats all in performance. Next comes XFX. (Talking about the ones distributed in india ofcourse)
 
But nobody answered my question , how to distinguish between a 64 bit and 128 bit card, say i go to purchase a fx5200 , from packaging how the hell am i gonna find the difference or is written somewhere or on the chipset, plzz tell me?
 
6600gt's are 128bit only.

Also 256mb on a 6600gt is completely wasted, there won't be a boost of even 1fps let alone 20fps.
More vram doesn't help in improving framerates, it only helps in maintaining the framerate when the card is burdened with aa/af which is moot in the case of a 6600gt since it's 128mb won't prove insufficient at anything below 1600x1200 4xaa at which point the gpu is already slow enough to not benefit from an extra 128mb.

Somewhat like a 32bit pc and 64bit pc, there won't be any speed difference in running the same games on either but 64bit allows for putting much more detail in games without incurring a slowdown as long as the clockspeeds are sufficiently high.
 
lol golden u actually think the 256mb card will give 20fps more? is something wrong with u.

get the 128mb xfx

& i think all 6600gts are 128bit not 256bit. the 6800gt & onwards are 256bit.
 
So you are not going to buy 6600GT as you told you would
Well then you go for 6600(non-GT) 128MB XFX.
Also, Can you tell me the reason for not opting 6600GT.

Take the Model No and look it up on the web.

@goldenfrag: All 6600GT/6600 are 128 bit and like others mentioned 256Mb on the 6600 wont give a boost of single FPS unless you are gaming @ 1600*1200 resolutions+; which isn't possible with the 6600 in the first place.
 
Nope. Graphic card memory dosent have to do anything with the load times. Load times depends on your HDD ( RPM and raid config ) mainly and somewhat on your CPU and memory.

6600 is not powerful enough to take advantage of 256MB RAM. Its just marketting gimmick. Nothing less nothing more.

And seriously the price difference between 6600GT and 6600 256MB dosent justify the 256MB purchase. The performance of 6600GT is 30-40 and in many cases 50% more.
 
Umm, firstly, all 66xx cards have 128-bit memory buses.

All 68xx cards have 256-bit memory buses.

As everyone has already said, 6600GT RULES over 6600 anyday. Period.
 
LOL . I am really surprised that you geeks dont know that 6600s also come in 64 bit variety :D . if you dont believe , google or just give a visit to www.newegg.com and find it for yourself :p

funkymonkey , load times are greatly influenced by the amount of system memory . my friend reported that my computer ( with 768mb ram ) loads Doom 3 much quicker than his system ( with 256mb ram ) . not " somewhat" :)
 
OT:
what about game stutters?..like weapon changes...room changes...basically the textures change here..right?..are those dependant on sys/gfx RAM? :S
