Hey guys,

I was planning to buy a LCD TV but due to low budget, decided on CRT. Havent finalised a brand yet..

Any Inputs are welcome.. Specific Brands/Models to prefer or not to prefer etc..

Thanx :)

what will you do with CRT after a period of say ,2 years ?it will become junk as LCD TV's will be the norm.

buy a small crt tv for casual use :P .then ,get the money and buy LCD later.

Not to prefer: Slimline or Slim model TVs.. Their technology is not perfected yet, and most of them have geometry and colour patching issues. Learnt it the hard way, so do not be tempted by the slim appearance.

Prefer: Models from Panasonic, SOny Bravia (some good models have been discontinued now :( ) or the Samsung, in that order.

TV tuner box + 22" WS LCD ( 13~14K) another alternative . upgrade to 24" for another 10k

One big question. What about the picture quality? BTW, Dell 24" monitor(TN panel - not the S-IPS one) is available for 19.5K.

Keeping that aside, Dipen1, I will advise you to ignore all other brands and go with Sony only. They make some fantastic TVs, nobody can beat them with that!

hey man... can you tell me more about this? i have Dell 22 WS panel and planining for cable TV. dont want to buy 37 / 40" panel now coz i want full HD only and waiting for prices to fall till 50k.

tell me without starting computer how i can enjoy cable TV on my monitor. plz note it as only DVI / RGB connections. which cable offer this? how about the quality? please elaborate more....

i definetly wont spend 15-20k on CRT... and diepn man.... dont do tat :bleh:

Coz ur a student so wont fry you. But you could go for this buy a 19" LCD and then connect it to a external tv tuner kit. AFAIK they r el-cheapo but if ur lucky they might go sometime. Just my 2 cents. Btw I have a 19" Samsung which cost me 11k round about 9 months back.

These seem to be LCD Models ? Though i checked Bravia.. It seems pretty good.. And hall of my flat is kinda spacious so anything less than 26" and it would be too small

Arre its not for me.. We actually bought a flat so kinda shifting and all, so its basic purpose for rest of family :cool2: and money isnt issue.. its just they "believe" that LCD is waste of money

KV-SZ292M88 : 25 (64 cms) & above : CRT TV : Sony India

does dish TV comes with RGB / DVI option ?
but again normal cable guy charges 300 per month and with dish TV / Tata sky you need to invest in set top box etc.... but i guess quality will be good.

does it worth to spend that much? and does they provide direct LCD interface (RGB / DVI only)

dipen - sorry dude... not knowing ur requirements.... get good 29" CRT. check for some philips model.. that was full HD model yesss it was CRT only. not able to remember the model... serach TE only.... somebody has it

Did you know that 32 inch panels these days are doing 1080p native? FYI they're under 50K

well local cablewala charge 300/month thats rs3600 /year and 1 month before i got DISH for rs3999 .....so not bad.....It has a D-sub connector like our MOBO.wont find it in TATA SKY.

also i have a CRT 29inch ONIDA THUNDER:rofl: .not bad. BUT the after sales service is very pathetic.ONida are made from CHINA:no: .while samsung are from korea:) .I also have a friend who has a 29inch SONY BUT it got screwed 4 times in 6month even the DVD player.
i personally have a sony for 18 yrs .But the current sony are not good(CRT).Just running by a brand name.
Better get a samsung or a good LCD moniter suggested by members

vandal - thx man..but i am looking at 40" Full HD - 10bit panel only.
as per my knowledge 32 does not have 10bit panels. Samsung 5 series is good but my parents are also not towards spending 70k on panel. so waiting them to fall to 40k :) - i red somewhere on TE only that LCD/Plasma prices will be down by 30-40%.. when that will happen....
diepn man - then you can have 32" LCD within your budget. may be at 25k.
so wait a bit....
and let me check with Dish TV. if i take Dish TV then do i need to buy TV tuner card ? will the quality be OK on 22" panel? i hope it is having RGB/DVI connections... let me check with DishTV guys....
will update you guys on saturday may be...

dish tv dont have DVI ..it contain that yellow ,white ,red socket and the D-sub socket just like MOBO used for our old 15 inch moniter.

what do you mean by D-sub socket just like MOBO used for our old 15 inch moniter?????????
is it RGB connector ?
my monitor is 22" WS from Dell and it does not have any RGB connerors, HDMI connectors, or S-video connetor.
it has only RGB and DVI connetor. now tell me how you have connected it to your screen? any screenshot possible?
i checked google for images for settop boxes for tata and dish but cant find anyting... so snapshot plzzzzz

Hmm I nearly finalised on Sony Model.. But now i am doubtful.. So what else Samsung/Philips..?

The Sony model mentioned earlier seemed pretty good.. I personally checked it out at a showroom ??
