I was looking for a 2TB HDD, internal one for to be used as a data storage. Mainly to dump BlueRay movie 15+ GB ones to view on weekends.

Came across a couple of drives, now its so confusing..... so looking out for some people with good expertise to suggest something really reliable and good performing.

1. I was planning to pick up a Western Digital 2TB model >>> WD20EARX (SATA 6GB/s) or the >>> WD20EARS (SATA 3GB/s). But became skeptical after reading a lot of failure rates of WD drives. Though at the moment of writing this query, they still continue to offer a 3 year Warranty, Is it a good Bet?

2. Also looked at the Segate 2TB model >>> ST2000DL003 (SATA 6GB/s). I was betting on this drive, Though already use a 1TB from Segate, and was satisfied but pulled back again due to the new policy of only 2 years Warranty.

3. Also would like to know is there any way to get Samsung SpinPoint drives here in India?

Upper Budget limit is INR 5000/-.

Also free to look at other better options if there any exists!

TIA!

^ wont that void the warranty?

Only base, not the body. The base can be removed to upgrade from say USB2 to say USB3 or to get SATA support. Now, this is the only way to get 3yrs seagate warranty, but please check it first, since seagate changed warranty without informing customers.

Guys, we can remove GOFLEX Base BUT can we remove the PlasticBody of the HDD or NOT ???

Base, yes. Body, no.

Internal Seagate 2 TB (with 1 TB Platter ) ST2000DM001 ???
