Gurus,

I am looking for a phone for my dad( open to new as well as used).
Main requirements:
Other than regular phone call( voice calls) he mainly needs to use it to use his forex trading platform over gprs and wifi
So it has be a 3.2" minimum screen size touch screen which is simple to use. The forex platform can run on Java supporting/ s60/ win mo. I am not sure about other OS support.

It should be simple to use.
Requirements:
3.2" or bigger touch screen
Good touch response, convenient interface
Easy on screen/sliding qwerty keypad
Wifi support is a must
3G, GPRS, easy to set up internet and other apps(I have seen for ex, that airtel gprs works easily with popular nokia phones, while htc/samsung etc more difficult, as the customer support doesnt send you correct gprs settings)
Decent battery life
Shouldnt be too loud/ flashy looking, I mean bright red etc colors

Other preferences:not so important
1. A 3.2/ or higher mp decent cam would help
2. Decent music playback over speakers/3.5 mm hp jack

Budget; a max of 15k inr, but cheaper the better

TIA

Pradeep,Teja,Raks, Kanishk, Thanks for your replies.

I am not too keen on the 5800 because I didnt find the touch response very smooth.

Is the Samsung Corby Pro capable of multi tasking?

Anybody here using Airtel gprs/mobile office on their HTC phones. I am asking this because I havent got much support from airtel regarding getting gprs to work on my HTC Touch. By the way, we have a HTC Touch already which is 2.8" screen, so a 3.2" is prefered as it is easier for my Dad to work with.

If you want a smooth touch response then you're better off with a capacitive touch screen phones rather than Resistive touch screen phones.

For this I recommend the Nokia X6 8gb.

X6 16 GB , get it from NPD with 3 months EMI :) ...

Thanks guys! The x6 16 gb may be out of budget, though there is the emi option, I dont think I will avail it. I am waiting to check out the 8gb version once it hits stores here.

Or maybe I can try to get it from the middle east where it may be cheaper.

Any other options? SE?

Pat, I thought the 16gb version was for 17k. I dont want to stretch more than 15k and that too for the sake of memory. As I stated in the first post, this phone is mainly use of Forex Trading platforms over gprs and wifi. Rest of the features are not so important.

OH MY GOD ! there were so many suggestions .. but none of you suggested the SAMSUNG SPICA ? dude .. its the most happening phone as of now in this segment ! ANDROID is in ! so is Spica .. Or is you can streth a bit .. go for SAMSUNG WAVE S8500 !! COMPLETE VFMs and total worth buying !! here are the specs. hope it helps !

Spica: Samsung I5700 Galaxy Spica - Full phone specifications
Wave: Samsung S8500 Wave - Full phone specifications

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

also, have a look at the rating for the WAVE.

X6 is piece of sh!t at that price. The screen is cramped, very bad responsive resistive it feels like (i think gsmarena had it under capacitive)

Don't believe me, visit nearest croma and get your hands on it.

@ fah33m

Wave is Bada OS

Its available at New Impression opposite to McDs in 17. They have open piece which you can try. Visit Relience Digital, they have many phones on display in your preferred price range. Also croma at cbd/belapur has many in that range for trying. Croma at city center doesn't have many choices.

[/COLOR]Nokia x6 does have capacitive touch display. Though the response Is not as good as other capacitive phones and that is largely due to the os. My friend got it for 15.5k and he got car charging and mounting kit, making a early vfm for those having car. Functionality wise, its inferior to Samsung wave.

@OP, check x6. You cab get is for something like 15.3k it you bargain. Don't go for HTC wildfire as its rumored price of 16k is not a worthy price.

But there aren't many Samsung Galaxy Spicas available in the REAL market

Guys, Spica is a phone I really like too. But no stocks available. Moreover I am not sure whether the trading platform works with android.
