3 New Rigs

Hey guys,

2 of my friends are planning to buy gaming setups and 1 of them is buying 2. So instead of creating 3 seperate threads I thought I'd just create one and name the rigs A, B & C :p

So here goes!

1. Q: What is your budget?

Rig A : 40K
Rig B : 30k
Rig C : 35k

2. Q: What is your existing hardware configuration (component name - component brand and model)

Fresh setups for all 3 except in Rig C, a 17# CRT will be retained and upgraded later. So no monitor for that.

3. Q: Which hardware will you be keeping (component name - component brand and model)

None

4. Q: Which hardware component are you looking to buy (component name). If you have already decided on a configuration then please mention the (component brand and model) as well, this will help us in fine tuning your requirement.

1. CPU - Rig A : Intel Core i-5 750 or AMD PII X4 of your recommendation.
Rig B : AMD PII X4 of your recommendation as I dont think i-5 will fit in the budget.
Rig C : Intel Core i-5 750 or AMD PII X4 of your recommendation as this one is without monitor.

2. Motherboard - Rigs A & B wont be overclocked so a mobo with decent sata speeds and usb options would do. Rig C might be overclocked so suggest accordingly.

3. GPU - Rig A : HD5770/GTX460
Rig B : HD5770 (or similar, as per budget)
Rig C : HD5770/GTX460 (Preferred in this one, monitor will be upgraded as I said so dont worry about overkill)

4. PSU - Rig A : Corsair VX450/VX550
Rig B : Corsair CX400 or FSP SAGA II 400W or Gigabyte Superb 460W as per budget??
Rig C : Corsair VX450/VX550

5. RAM - Corsair 4gb ddr3 on all rigs. Can be 1333 Mhz or 1600 Mhz depending on what the mobos support and budget. And also XMS3 or Corsair value rams depending on budget.

6. HDD - Seagate 500 gb / 1 tb as per budget.

7. Monitor - Rig A : 22 inch
Rig B : 22/20 inch..try and fit in a 22 inch :p
Rig C : None as of now

8. Keyboard/ Mouse - Please recommend. I've read people recommending the TVS Gold kb on TE, if so then which mouse with it? Gaming kb/mouse is not necessary as I feel its better to skimp there to focus on the main rig.

5. Q: Is this going to be your final configuration or you would be adding/upgrading a component in near future. If yes then please mention when and which component

Will upgrade monitor in Rig C later. Rest is final.

6. Q: Where will you buy this hardware? (Online/City/TE Dealer)

1. Mumbai
2. Rig C is gonna be bought on installments.

7. Q: Would you consider buying a second hand hardware from the TE market

No, Rigs are for Non-TEites, they are paranoid about warranty and second hand stuff :p

8. Q: What is your intended use for this PC/hardware

1. Gaming
2. Browsing
3. Desktop Processing
4. HTPC
5. Download rig, 24x7 operation
6. Watching HD movies

9. Q: Do you have any brand preference or dislike? Please name them and the reason for your preference/dislike.

No Asus/XFX because of their ASS. I chose corsair for rams because of their 10 year warranty. If you feel G-skill will give a significant improvement in performance, worth letting go of the 5 yrs warranty then I will do that. In that case please specifiy the G-skill ram model no. as well.

10. Q: If you will be playing games then which type of games will you be playing?

All.

11. Q: What is your preferred monitor resolution for gaming and normal usage

1. Gaming - Max supported
2. Desktop - Max possible

12. Q: Are you looking to overclock?

1. Maybe, only on Rig C.

13. Q: Which operating system do you intend to use with this configuration?
1. Windows 7 64 bit
2. Windows XP SP2 64 bit

If I missed out on anything, please let me know.

Thx a lot for the suggestions :)

Thx DA,

If any of them can increase their budget even slightly, then which components would you suggest to change?
For Rig A --> 22" monitors get the MSI GTX460 768MB Cyclone ~ 11.5k and VX450 for rig 1.

For Rig C --> 22" monitors get the MSI GTX460 768MB Cyclone ~ 11.5k and VX550 for rig 3.(extra headroom for OC)

If the monitor upgrade for Rig C will be done only after December then better get a 2nd hand 512MB HD4670~2.5-3k(even a new one for ~3.8-4k). Coz prices will fall after the HD6xxx series release and u could save few thousands by this way
