CPU - AMD Phenom II X4 945 ~ 6.9k (955BE(95w)~7.9k in case u are planning to OC it has unlocked multiplier)

Motherboard - GA-MA785GM-US2H ~ 4.1k (7.1 channel audio but has only 5 SATA ports+ 1 E-SATA.)

PSU - Corsair VX 550~4.8k (CM GX750 has bad reviews in Johny Guru and Hardware Secrets.(The best PSU review sites out there). Avoid CM GX series)

Total: ~16k

So depending on whether u can extend the budget consider the Sapphire HD5850 1GB GDDR5 ~ 15.8k, else the Zotac GTX 460 1GB GDDR5 ~ 13.6k.

i dont really need onboard audio. so a 870/770 board will do just fine. Is the above mentioned board ddr3?

Guess u meant IGP. Its DDRII mobo since it would save some money for u to invest in the GPU instead of RAM.

There are very few 770 mobos in the market and even they are not exactly cheap. Going for 870/880 will cost 5.5k+ plus DDRIII RAM. (~5.4k for Corsair 1600MHz XMS3 4GB kit (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9). Mediahome has a Corsair RAM thread in ero dov)

^^I meant onboard video! lol! thanks! i mentioned i have 4gb ddr3 ram as well . i need a good solid motherboard

Oops, missed that :) The MSI 880GMA-E45~5.7k shipped in SMC site and 5.7k+ shipping in ITwares site. It has decent reviews. Has 6 SATA 6 Gbps ports, all solid caps and 2 USB 3.0 ports. Has Realtek ALC892, 8 channel audio but it lacks eSATA.

Or alternately the PII X2 555 BE which can be unlocked to X4 with the right board. Pick up the 785G chipset based Gigabyte board - GA-785GMT-USB3. With a pair of 2GB sticks from Corsair XMS3 or G.Skill RipJaws (CL7), you can overclock the PC when you pick up a good aftermarket cooler. And like DA mentioned already, for the GPU settle for nothing less than the GTX460 - 768MB or 1GB doesn't matter since the performance difference between the 2 is not all that worth paying the ~2k difference for. The 3 year additional warranty is what makes the deal sweeter for Zotac cards - you need to register the card with Zotac within 15 days of buying it though. For the power supply, get the VX550 - Corsair warranty and after sales support is unmatched!

Although i am not sure if all those would fit under 30k. Did you try selling the existing parts in the forum or elsewhere?

I am making purchases as we speak! picked up and paid for an AMD Phenom X4 955 BE 3 months old for 5800rs shipped. that leaves only the board+gpu+psu to be purchased!

i wont be using esata--so its presence makes no difference to me.

@ desecrator- i have clubbed the amount i will get from my old pc along with this months savings for this machine. I already have a 955be x4 which I just bought 10 mins back! i also have ocz platinum 1600mhz ram.

Confirmed purchases:

corsair vx550

i am currently confused about the motherboard--

i can buy the MSI 770-C45 - ddr3 board for about 4k or i can buy the MSI 880gma with sata 3 and usb3.

The gpu is a big dilemma !! don't know what to do. i have never used an ATI card b4! how good is the 460gtx compared to ati 5850?

The price difference between the two versions is ~1.6k INR(~12%) and the 1GB version outperforms the 768MB by similar margins and the bigger bus width and extra memory would become increasingly significant at HD resolutions for newer games IINM.

^Barely 3~4 fps and that too at 2560 x 1600. I don't think the extra moolah is worth it. Check the reviews. ;)

@OP: Get a Gigabyte board if you can. Gigabyte's customer support is a notch better than MSI's and Asus's, going by the experiences posted by members. SATA 3.0 and USB 3.0 is an added advantage and if you do not wish to change the board soon, this would come in handy.

Solved the gpu dilemma--I am not a hardcore gamer and the resolution I play at is 1920x1080 which I think an ATi 4870 can easily handle with everything set to high. I am getting one of these cards dirt cheap(second hand deal). The Ati 4870 performs on par with the Ati 5770 as per the reviews. I save a whole lot of money(approx 10-12k if i were to buy a 5850/gtx460) in the process and I shall switch to the upcoming AMD 6 series later this year. I want to see how Crysis 2 tortures the current generation as well as the upcoming generation video cards. I can do nicely with the Ati 4870 till then.

I am just confused about the motherboard to buy i have 5000rs at my disposal.

The GeForce GTX 460 768 MB, priced to match the Radeon HD 5830, is a little less attractive. The smaller frame buffer hurts performance at high resolutions with AA turned on, and a narrower memory bus translates into less bandwidth, consequently slowing things down in the rest of our tests. I’d rather spend the extra $20 and get the faster card, quite frankly.

Conclusion : Nvidia GeForce GTX 460: The Fermi We Were Waiting For

Well isnt a 3-4 fps difference significant if its 36fps vs 40 fps :S I am not much of a gamer and just went by reviews as most review sites recommened the 1GBversion due to higher bus width and extra memory.

^^ solved the gpu issue!! Can you guys recommend a motherboard please within 5k?

Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H ~ 4.1k (DDRII)/Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-US2H ~ 4.6k (DDRIII). -ve for u is it has only 5 SATA ports
MSI MSI 785GM-E51 AM3 ~ 4.1k (DDRIII) Again only 5 SATA ports.

Biostar TA785GE~3.7k and TA790GXBE ~ 4.35k (ATX) mobos have 6 SATA ports but lacks 8 channel audio. They have inferior Onboard Audio Chipset(Realtek ALC662) compared to Gigabyte and the MSI. So choose based on the needs. All mobos i have listed are pretty good for the price.
