Hi,

I am looking out for a 32GB microSD crad Class 10 for my daughter's new iBall tablet10.1"

Would a Class 10 work with the above? I have sent a mail to iball support & yet to receive their reply.

My preference is for Sandisk > Transcend > Samsung

I have not heard anything about Samsung ? Most likely to order it online from snapdeal or flipkart (if I can't get them in the local shops)

Thanks
Terry

I don't see the point of a class 10 card on a tablet. You do know that class 10 cards generally have worse random access times than class 4 or 6 cards. Also the probability of landing up with a fake card is higher with sandisk especially if you order from eBay. Hence I'd recommend a class 6 Samsung.

Yes, I have heard about the fake class 10 cards... esp on ebay (Hope it's not the same on FK or Snapdeal)

But you have another point - maybe for the Tablet class 10 is not necessary (as compared to a camera with Full HD or rapid burst features, where write speeds are important)

I have Sandisk mobile ultra (class 10) 32gb and 16gb in mine and wifey's phone. Running good so far.

Although mine got corrupt in S3. Good A.S.S by Sandisk. Got it replaced within 2 days.

I have been using a Sansung 16 GB Class 6 on my S3 and a Samsung 32GB Class 10 on my Transformer TF101.No problems so far.The 32 GB Class 10 really shines when it comes to write/copy speeds when I copy the files that I download via utorrent on my tab and transfer them to my pc via the card reader.Have been suing both for around 1 year now and absolutely no issues so far.

I went in for 32GB Sandisk Class 10 (1.8k) with 8 years warranty. Samsung was not available locally.

But.... stuck with a strange problem. The device (iBall edu Slide Tablet) recognizes the 32GB card - however, I just cannot copy/transfer as yet anything onto it. May have to go in for a factory reset (as a last resort) - as when we got the tablet, my nephew ( a young brat :rage:) did all the additional installations + deletions of apps & widgets very hurriedly. So I am not sure if he has deleted some important system files too......... Grrrrraaaaaaggghhhh

Can you not format the card from the iball menu? Try doing that. That should mostly fix the problem.

Well.... I will consider this option too........(after 10 mins) DAMMIT I just can't see the "iball" menu AT ALL. Checked the manual & it's supposed to be there. I am so, so pissed off with my nephew.

Still confused as the device recognises the sandisk card & shows 29.71GB + worried about erasing the apps that came with it (Android app included - Easy File Management; Backup Protection; Fast Access) - Will these go in case I have to format it?

Would the iball RESTORE ALL DEFAULT APPS/SETTINGS if I have to "reset" it to factory settings?
I am worried that I should not lose the "eteach" app that came with the device [educational syllabus CBSE + SSC medium] as I had not activated it as yet (April 15th is the deadline for some additional offers too) ?

I will carefully note down all the app's that my daughter/nephew has installed (mostly games) & reinstall them later.

Worried
Terry

You don't have to format/factory reset the device, just look out for the external card format option (somewhere within settings >storage).

Only if something is screwed up in the system, factory reset can help. Also if those CBSE + SSC software came already installed, it'll get restored again (in the state it was, when you bought the device).

Thanks mate .... that's some assurance. However, I will carry forward any rescue operations (carefully) tomorrow morning. I am literally "pissed" off - 2 patiala's down of whiskey & would not risk anything right now. Will revert back tomorrow.

Can you install ES File Explorer from the Store and see if can copy/paste via that.Might be an issue with the built-in file manager that you have.

Will keep this in mind too.

I sincerely do not know "what all were the original apps" that came in with the device as my nephew - just raced about configuring/deleting (unwanted apps - according to him!!! and so on...). So I am zapped.

Btw... your ID reminds me of "Asterix & Obelix" and the hapless Roman's - Marcus ..... Fenix ... By Toutatis! this is a great ID (no offence bro ... I am in awe & smiling & drooling on the wild boars - It's easter time)

Cheers

:) These Humans are crazy!!!! Seems so now that I think about it .
Actually it is after the protagonist of Gears Of War series.

Oops, I guess I am out dated & pre-historic in my GK. lol

Ok, apart from the light banter - this is what my iball storage reports
INTERNAL STORAGE
Total Space 0.98GB
Apps (app data & media content) = 610MB
Available : 341MB

NAND FLASH
Total Space 5.32GB (supposed to be 8GB - minus formattable space, so why is it showing only 5.32GB???)
Apps = 288MB
Pictures, videos = 12.66MB
Audio = 4.84GB
Downloads = 1.46MB

SD CARD
Total Space = 29.71GB
Available = 29.71GB

I do not see any formatting options anywhere, I guess I will take a back-up of the Audio = 4.84GB & then follow the steps as suggested here - if these do not work then a "factory reset"

Ciao
Terry

DID A FACTORY RESET FINALLY

Restored everything to it's normal state - except perhaps & the most important thing "eTeach - educational package software" - will write to them to see if they can give me a link to download the same.

Not 100% sure if "everything" was the same as when this unit was first picked up.

32GB - detected and was able to copy/transfer some stuff via usb> using my PC (I can't do the same through the filemanager etc on the tablet).
