hi all,
im from mumbai and need good deals on the following in MUMBAI

1) athlon 3500+ 90nm venice. people are quoting 11k. is it good price? any place where i can be assured of getting venice at 11k?

2) asus "a8n-vm csm" with nvidia geforce6150+nforce430. ppl are quoting 6k which i feel is bad price. i expected board to be around 5k. any place where i can get this board for around 5k?

3) 2 x 512mb ddr 400, which brand to go for? i want good ram at under 5k. i expect transcend to be under that price, where to get it from?

Instead of that mobo, get a foxconn nf4 ultra mobo + a 6200Turbocache. Will run 3D stuff faster. 6K is not worth it for that board. Get Twinmos RAM with Mtec chips or if you can find it, Samsung UCCC ram. 3500+ is not worth spending your money on. Instead get an opteron 146.

:cool2: i will checkout the twinmos as u said.

;) 3500+(with 200mhz extra clock speed) vs 146(with the 1m cache)
tough choice i kno, but at stock speeds the 3500+ outperforms the opty. the opty is a mad overclocker with insane capbilities for OCing, but i'm not really interested in OCing, so for me the 3500+ makes a better choice. besides the opty is abt 1.5k costlier.

 i do want to go for an upgrade later this year to a gfx card. if i get the 6200TC then i will be stuck with it and no more upgrade. so till then i gotta survive with onboard.

 foxconn is good mobo with no brand support. i'd rather have slightly less performance with peace of mind abt warranty.

:bleh: i kno that 6k is not worth the board so i want ppl to tell me where it is available.

:@ now since i have cleared any doubts abt my decision (and research behind it) id like to get back to the main topic which is "where will i get best deals on what i want?"

The Biostar TForce 6100 is one of the best budget ocing boards with built-in graphics based on the nF51 core and with PCI-E 16X slot. Should be the best buy at about 4.3~4.4k. Heres the manu's link

The motherboard linked below is a 6100-M9 which is the same except for 2 onboard switches that are used to power on and reset the mobo without a cabinet.

And where do you get the best deal - My Own Shop. I will ship it to you if you order.

You can also check with www.deltapge.com for chennai prices. Mumbai should be almost the same :)

Raghu.

PS : Mods if you feel thats advertising and not permitted, pardon me and edit/delete the post. I was just trying to get him a good deal :)

Yes deejay i felt that we really needed something like newegg or zzf here. My experience with these sites in the US has been wonderful and things need to get better here. No point depending on the stupid dealers here to start something like this.

So i took the inititative to make one and ive been working on it for quite some time...Looks decent (?? I hope) only now. Its been very tough tho. Im prepared to do the hard work and provide a wrapper that will encapsulate the crappy dealers/computer stores and provide clean, informative website and convenience of online shopping to ppl here.

Anyway k.electron, Im having the board with me, i bought it for a friend. I will post a review of it soon and also pics...Was a breeze to setup along with the 3000+ Venice. Will flash to a better BIOS and post an overclock too. The layout is very good tho.

Dude, id say go for MSI K8NGM2-FID - if youre looking for for nforce 430 + geforce 6150 as a lot of people are facing problems with the asus board u mentioned, plus the msi board has all the features as the asus board. As far as i know the MSI K8NGM2-IL is being sold in the market which is without the dvi onboard, when i asked my dealer he was like K8NGM2-FID hasnt come as of now. If youre looking out for a nice onboard graphic card this is the best deal i feel. I'v been following the anandtech thread for quite a while now, so MSI is a better deal is what i feel. The MSI board comes with a production for use only BIOS, so u just need to flash to a updated BIOS. I'm myself waiting for the FID version to hit the stores.

Check out the anandtech NV GeForce 6150 Board Shootout thread here :

Cheers! :hap2:

opty 146 is 1.5 costlier than venice 3500 means opty 146 is 12.5k :S :hap5:
somethins terribly wrong   ;)

dude and thers no way a venice 3500+ better than opty as far as memory controller is concerned opty is the best i am using it i saw a venice 3500+ too performing, opty's performace/temperatures and overall load taking capability better and dont forget the low latency 1mb cache ;) in opty and 512 kb in venice :bleh:

The Biostar overclocks the best among all nF51 boards....Just check for any review on the Biostar TForce 6100 board. Period.

Features are good but not really full fledged. Damn - my friend took his comp and i cant write a review now :( Will see if i can borrow it for some time.

Raghu.

first of all i dont care about the dvi, im gonna connect a standard crt using the vga output.
secondly im not going to OC as i dont need to. this is a home pc with mainly home applications, a little bit of corel/photoshop/autocad and light gaming like wc3 and such.

now rushabht can u please enlighten me as to what are the problems with the asus board. some of my frnds with msi boards arent too happy with them. also on the amd forums the guys told me they had probs with msi. i basically want stability so i guess asus is better in that respect.

Raghunandan your endevor seems real great coz india lacks that cool online buying and shipping approach of the us. (ebay sux coz it takes no warranty for good sold. warranties come from the shops that use ebay and they cant be trusted always). i wish u best of luck on your enterprise.
now how can i order from you? how will u ship it(im in mumbai)? and how will i pay(cant pay using credit card - dad wont allow)? also when u mentioned u have the board, which board were u talking abt?

also x86 if u check out the amd forums u'll c that even tho the opty's got a low latency 1mb cache, the rest of the architecture is the same as the A64 with a few power issues sorted out as well. also it is quite clear amongst the testers that at stock speed the 3500+ is marginally better than the opty146(because of greter clock spd) xcept in one field which is communication and data packet processing (server activities). also the opty really shines when OCed coz its real stable, but that point is moot coz im not OCing.

also what abt the 3500+venice? any deals better than 11k in mumbai?

The ASUS A8N-VM CSM is available for around 5.8k in Bangalore, since it's new to the Market expect it to be around this range only. Since the Market is flooded with Geforce 6100 and ATi RS482 Chipset based board which range from Rs. 4000/- to Rs. 4500/-, hence these 6150 boards will be on a higher side in terms of price. About ASUS A8N-VM CSM Board, I'll suggest you to wait a little bit and wait for Boards like MSI K8NGM2-FID or FOXCONN 6150K8MA-8EKRS to arrive in Indian Market. Although ASUS is aquite reputed Brand but it's recent Motherboards have some Bios problems. They don't seem to support the Venice Core properly.

I bought the Biostar 6100-M9 for a comp that i built for my friend. He came yesterday and took it before i could take pics and test enough to write a review :( So heres just a overview of the features

Its based on the southbridge 410 + northbridge 6100. Comes with the foll features

2xSATA Raid
2XIDE
Builtin Graphics thats approximately like the 6200TC
1 PCI-E x16 slot
1 PCI-E x1 slot
2 PCI slots
4xRAM Slots - upto 4GB support

Nothing more that i can remember. But setting up the board was very easy and placement of components was very good. The build quality of the motherboard felt very good and didnt have the usual cheap plastic connectors/parts that come with budget board. The RAM slots in particular were very neat and easy to work with, the notches being solid that dont break easily with use :)

The comp was running rock-solid in the limited testing i could do and took the 4 types of ram that i tested with it. Didnt require a CMOS reset even once while changing ram. Tested with Winbond CH5, Kingston Value, Transcend (PSC modules) and Dynet (local brand). Timings and speed were detected correctly for all the types.

The ocing is damn good and this is seen as the next best budget ocing board to the Asrock. Ocing will definitely become an option that u can use when u are looking for free/cheap upgrades, say a year later. Dont ignore it, especially when it doesnt cost you anything more.

Is the TForce available for 4.4K, or is it the GForce? (6100-m9). The Tforce is a much better board, designed for overclocking. It comes with diagnostic LEDs, better quality caps, and memtest included in bios. And it has Vdimm upto 3.2V.

Here are the unique features of the TForce series - http://www.biostar.com.tw/micro_t-series/UniqueFeatures.htm

I think I made a mistake zhopudey, thanks for pointing that out!!

Biostar's site shows only one product with nF51 chipset for socket 939, as confused by that. It didnt have the power and reset buttons on board...something i noticed cuz the PCB had space for those and was silkscreened well. I will get the details about the make of the capacitors and the jumper thingie soon, and post here too.

Hmmm....lemme see. I did see that the bios can be crossflashed and its overclocks just as well when thats done....Where did i see that...here :)

Its a long thread like every other on [H] but then its well worth the read :D

Minor differences i guess and M9 is not the same as Tforce, but only slightly different. Still damn good for the price.
