Laptops 35k Laptop for friend

I need a 35K laptop for a friend.....

I have more or less decided on the Acer 2420 series..... 1.6 ghz Celeron + 256 MB RAM (Will be telling my friend to upgrade it to 512MB ) + 40 GB + DVD/CD-RW combo drive + Wi-Fi..... No XP. Only Linux.

the price according to some shop on Lamington is 30,500 (without the extra 256MB RAM).

So, I guess with original XP and another 256 MB, it should come to 35K ?? Considering the price difference between Mumbai and Bangalore, it shouldnt be more than 37K should it ??

Check if your reseller would replace the 256 MB stick with a single 512 one - that way it would turn out to be cleaper and also would leave room for future upgrades

I bought the same laptop - it costed me 31.5 all inclusive (not 30.5 :@ ) - 512 in lieu of 256 would have costed me 1.5k more.

HOw about a (HCL make) Celeron-M 1.5G / 256MB / 40GB / Combo / 14" TFT / XP Prof Preloaded with License n Recovery Media/ Carry bag for 34k + 4%? :P

28k + 4% with Linux :)

Where did i imply the stuff was old or u wud have to buy online only? :bleh:

hmmm..... that sure as hell is a nice price !! But the Acer is cheaper :P ...... abt 31K for the 256MB model.....

i got the same thing for 28 + windows brand new
 
yeah where !!!

Anyway just got a call from her.... she went with her parents to the Acer Mall and ended up buying it for 38K all inclusive..... With XP and 512 MB of RAM.

I told her not to buy it in a hurry, but she did.....
 
Not all that much.....

she got XP home and an extra 256 MB.... she got ripped off on the RAM though.... she was charged 2.5K for the extra 256MB .

and she called me from the showroom.... I told her it was too much. Told her to bargain a bit. But to be honest, I didnt expect her to bargain..... we are techies dude..... she is a noob :P

To make everything more palatable, she got a USB bluetooth reciever, a 256MB pen drive, a carrying case....
