360 Vs PS3

It's been a while and i am sort of out of the scene. A quick question, which of the two consoles at the moment are doing well ( online included ) ?
My brother wants to pick either of these up (at UK) but he hasn't a clue about them..

I would love your opinions on which of them is better? Also can both play backup copies? ;)

Edit: Actually, just get a PS3. Lot more exclusives and Blu-Ray player.:ashamed: (That is just because the PS3 has a few good exclusives like MGS4, LBP and the upcoming team Ico Game and all the popular games are dual platform.)
 
360 beats PS3 in the number of exclusives. Both are good consoles but PS3 has not matured as much as 360. I suggest you go with a PS3 mostly the graphics are better than the 360 and PSN is free as opposed to Xbox Live that is a paid service. Plus Killzone 2 arrives in Feb :P
 
I have both PS3 and an XBOX 360 Elite and I would recommend PS3 over the XBOX 360. Personally I havent touched my 360 after completing Mass Effect. I game on my PC and PS3 regularly. There are a decent amount of good titles for the PS3, and many titles these days are cross platform anyway. PS3 is also a bit more reliable than the 360.

As for playing backed up discs, there is no hack for PS3 and even for XBOX 360, I would recommend that you stick to originals. 360 is unreliable enough to warrant not modding your console and retain your warranty. If you want to get the console from outside, I would still recommend PS3 as its more reliable.

There are?

I can just think of Fable 2, Ninja Gaiden 2 and Halo 3. Any others I missed? (Not a sarcastic comment, really want to know. Am planning on getting one of the two consoles myself.)
 
depends on wat games u wanna play or if ur really a movie buff then get ps3 for blue-ray (if u already own a hd-tv..else get xbox360)...

And dont forget that few games are PC and X360 such as the Mass effect, Bioshock (till Oct). Even Red Alert 3 has not been released for PS3 so far. Ofcourse there is the RRoD fear. PS3 is coming in strong with Little Big Planet, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Gran Turismo 5 and the ever popular Metal Gear Solid 4.
 
An upside to the 360 is the ability to run backed up games by DVDRom firmware hack.
 
^ thats not a feature of 360 , its just a mere hack.MS doesnt advertise that , do they?

Heh Heh. Didn't like Gears of War 1, so easy to forget.:P

Yeah, I had forgotten the XboX 360 and PC only games. I hadn't considered them because I usually have a decent PC as well.

Strange to know that Sony is not milking the online market something like live. In any case , he is a sports ( football mainly) buff... and the intended use is there itself... out of curiosity , does india have an online facility in place for either of the consoles?
